How to think a unique and determinative turn in analytic philosophy of mind?To answer this question this article first presents an attempt to render clear that analytic phenomenology,by contrast with conceptions of ph...How to think a unique and determinative turn in analytic philosophy of mind?To answer this question this article first presents an attempt to render clear that analytic phenomenology,by contrast with conceptions of phenomenology of the XXth century,beneficially dispenses with several methodological and conceptual assumptions that were assumed to be compulsory,as phenomenological reduction,a notion of synthesis,and a philosophical notion of the a priori.It then presents some eventual difficulties to the achievement of a phenomenological turn within analytic philosophy,which are,the neglect of historicity,abstractionism,the acknowledgement of the place of language in our lives,and solipsism.It finally presents several demands that concern the felicity of contemporary analytic phenomenologies,namely,anti-abstractionism,fallibilism,attention to polyadic relations,and the integration of ecological and decolonial concerns of our cultures.展开更多

Katherine Mansfield was a representative short-story writer and recognized as a feminist.This paper is a multiangle analysis of her well-known story The Daughters of the Late Colonel.In the episodic story,Katherine de...Katherine Mansfield was a representative short-story writer and recognized as a feminist.This paper is a multiangle analysis of her well-known story The Daughters of the Late Colonel.In the episodic story,Katherine depicts two sisters' deplorable life over the course of the week after their father died.This paper starts with the outline of the story,and discusses the narrative order,language features,the title,the opening sentence and the ending of it.It is found that under the seemingly ordinary plots,the two spinsters' incapability,timidity and loss of identity are presented.Thus,the essence of the story is revealed:the female characters are under strong patricentric control and their minds are actually imprisoned.And the portrayals of the sisters' captivity in the sense of spirit imply that Katherine's potential appeal of female spiritual emancipation.展开更多

This paper aims to establish a dialogue between contemporary research on the problem of other minds and classical Chinese philosophical theories.It first explores the idea,inspired by the recent discovery of the mirro...This paper aims to establish a dialogue between contemporary research on the problem of other minds and classical Chinese philosophical theories.It first explores the idea,inspired by the recent discovery of the mirror neuron mechanism,that a direct exchange of experience may occur between the observer and the observed.Next,it analyzes the ways in which the ancient Chinese philosopher Zhuangzi and Confucian thinkers reflected on the problem of other minds,which are quite similar to the idea inspired by the latest research on mirror neurons.In these thinkers’views,knowledge of other minds is the result of mental activity and what it provides is,to a large extent,something related not to epistemology but rather to a situational understanding of other minds from the perspective of value theory.The author points out that this solution takes two aspects,humans9 innate nature and human experience,into consideration simultaneously.In terms of humans,innate nature,the body of a human being is a body that represents the unity of man and nature,and it has something in common with the natural world,which lays a foundation for the perception of other minds.In terms of human experience,human beings have such actual needs as emotions,pursuits,and desires,and their behaviors need to conform to certain norms.It is in a body of this kind that the mind of human beings can be formed and enjoy the potential to develop.Effective interpersonal communication can thus be achieved.展开更多
