To investigate the cost-effectiveness of different maintenance treatments of highways in Jiangsu Province, the historical pavement maintenance records, traffic load information and pavement performance data in the pav...To investigate the cost-effectiveness of different maintenance treatments of highways in Jiangsu Province, the historical pavement maintenance records, traffic load information and pavement performance data in the pavement management system (PMS) are recorded and analyzed. Compared with the growth model, the linear model, the logarithm model and the exponential model, the cubic model has higher regression accuracy R2 and it can capture the sigmoid shape of the deterioration curve. So it is selected to simulate the pavement rotting development. The benefit over cost ratio is calculated to quantify the treatment cost- effectiveness. The analysis results show that thin hot mix asphalt (HMA) overlays and micro surfacing are more cost- effective than the. other two treatments on light and moderate traffic roads. Hot in-place recycling and thick HMA overlays have much longer service lives and greater cost-effectiveness under heavy or extra heavy traffic.展开更多
Supercapacitors(SCs)have been successfully used in electric vehicles or military equipment systems for their high power density.However,the mechanical impacts from vehicle crashes and missile penetration probably caus...Supercapacitors(SCs)have been successfully used in electric vehicles or military equipment systems for their high power density.However,the mechanical impacts from vehicle crashes and missile penetration probably cause performance fluctuations or failure of SCs,which may threaten the safety of systems using SCs.In this paper,a generalized circuit model to analyze the transient process of SCs under mechanical loads is proposed.The circuit model simultaneously takes capacitance change,internal short-circuit and resistance change into account,an extra resistor-capacitor circuit(RCC)is added to simulate the nonlinear behavior during charging and discharging.Subsequently,the relationships between pressure and fundamental circuit parameters are determined by static methods.By taking the static test data into the circuit model,the transient response of different types of SCs under particular mechanical loading conditions is predicted.Finally,the influences of some crucial parameters on the voltage responses of SCs are revealed based on the simulations,which provide references for designing and optimizing mechanical load-resistant or self-sensing SCs in specific application scenarios.展开更多

In this paper, we derive the transient nonlinear dynamicresponse equations of high-acceleration mechanisms, which reveal that stiffness, frequency, damping, and driving frequency are the primary factors. Therefore, we propose a new structural optimization and velocity-planning method for the precision positioning of a high-acceleration mechanism based on optimal spatial and temporal distribution of inertial energy. For structural optimization, we first reviewed the commonly flexible multibody dynamic optimization using equivalent static loads method (ESLM), and then we selected the modified ESLM for optimal spatial distribution of inertial energy; hence, not only the stiffness but also the inertia and frequency of the real modal shapes are considered. For velocity planning, we developed a new velocity-planning method based on nonlinear dynamic-response optimization with varying motion conditions. Our method was verified on a high-acceleration die bonder. The amplitude of residual vibration could be decreased by more than 20% via structural optimization and the positioning time could be reduced by more than 40% via asymmetric variable velocity planning. This method provides an effective theoretical support for the precision positioning of high-acceleration low-load mechanisms.展开更多
In this paper,an aluminum corrugated sandwich panel with triangular core under bending loads was investigated.Firstly,the equivalent material parameters of the triangular corrugated core layer,which could be considere...In this paper,an aluminum corrugated sandwich panel with triangular core under bending loads was investigated.Firstly,the equivalent material parameters of the triangular corrugated core layer,which could be considered as an orthotropic panel,were obtained by using Castigliano's theorem and equivalent homogeneous model.Secondly,contributions of the corrugated core layer and two face panels were both considered to compute the equivalent material parameters of the whole structure through the classical lamination theory,and these equivalent material parameters were compared with finite element analysis solutions.Then,based on the Mindlin orthotropic plate theory,this study obtain the closed-form solutions of the displacement for a corrugated sandwich panel under bending loads in specified boundary conditions,and parameters study and comparison by the finite element method were executed simultaneously.展开更多
