Some of the major manufacturing processes and corresponding mechanical properties of titanium clad steel plates were analyzed, and the consequences of research, manufacturing, and application of titanium clad steel plates in both markets of China and overseas were also summarized. As an economical and environmentally friendly technology, the roll bonding process is expected to become the next-generation mainstream process for the manufacturing of titanium clad steel plate. Some of the crucial and most important technical problems of this particular process, including vacuum sealing technology, surface treatment process technology, application of a transition layer, and rolling process, were discussed along with the advantageous mechanical properties and life-cycle economy of these plates processed by this technology. Finally, the market needs, application trends, and requirements of titanium clad steel plate were also considered from industries of petrochemical, shipbuilding, marine, and electric power. 展开更多

Vacuum hot roll bonding (VHRB) was used to bond pure titanium (Ti) plate to a 304 stainless steel (SS) plate with a niobium (Nb) interlayer, with the aim of producing a high-quality Ti-SS clad plate. The roll-bonding process was performed at different temperatures in the range of 850-1000℃, followed by characterization of microstructure and mechanical properties. The study demonstrates that the interfaces are free from cracks and discontinuities, and interdiffusion between the stainless steel and the titanium is effectively prevented by inserting a layer of pure Nb foil. No intermetallic reaction layer occurred at the Nb-Ti interface at any of the investigated temperatures. An intermetallic FeNb phase was formed at the Nb-SS interface when bonding was performed at 950 ℃ and above. The presence of the FeNb layer was confirmed by x-ray diffraction. The maximum shear strength of -396 MPa was obtained when bonding is carried out at 900 ℃. However, the formation of the FeNb layer at roll bonding temperature greater than 900 ℃ led to decrease in shear strength. Ductile fracture occurred through the Ti-Nb interface for roll-bonded temperatures of up to 900 ℃. On the other hand, at temperature of 950℃ and above, failure occurred through the Nb-SS interface, with brittle fracture characteristics. 展开更多

A Fe/Al clad tube was prepared by explosive welding.Then the bonding characteristic of the interface was investigated by compression,flattening and compression-shear test.The test results exhibit that the clad tubes possessing good bonding interface have higher shear strength than that of pure aluminum and can bear both axial and radial deformation.The original interface between aluminum layer and ferrite layer was observed by scanning electron microscopy(SEM).The results show that the clad tubes with good bonding properties possess the interface in wave and straight shape.The Fe/Al clad tube was used to manufacture the T-shape by hydro-bulging.It is found that the good-bonding interface of the Fe/Al clad tube plays a dominant role in the formation of the T-shape. 展开更多

The effect of heat treatment on microstructure and mechanical properties of the Ti-steel explosive-rolling clad plate was elaborated by optical microscopy (OM), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), X-ray diffraction (XRD), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), micro-hardness test and shear test. The composites were subjected to heat treatment at temperature of 650-950 ~C for 60 min. The results show that the heat treatment process results in a great enhancement of diffusion and microstructural transformation. The shear strength decreases as the treatment temperature increases. Heated at 850 ℃ or below, their shear strength decreases slowly as a result of the formation of TiC in the diffusion interaction layer; while at the temperature of 850 ℃ or above, the shear strength decreases obviously, which is the consequence of a large amount of Ti-Fe intermetaUics (Fe2Ti/FeTi) along with some TiC distributing continuously at diffusion reaction layer. 展开更多

The growth of intermetallic compounds at the interface between solid Al and Fe and the effects of intermetallic compound layers on the interfacial bonding of clad materials were investigated. The results showed that the interface between the solid Fe and Al formed by heat-treatment consisted of Fe2Al5 and FeAl3 intermetallic compound layers, which deteriorated the interfacial bonding strength. Fractures occurred in the intermetallic compound layer during the shear testing. The location of the fracture depended on the defects of microcracks or voids in the intermetallic compound layers. The microcracks in the intermetallic compound layer were caused by the mismatch of thermal expansion coefficients of materials during cooling, and the voids were consistent with the Kirkendall effect. The work will lay an important foundation for welding and joining of aluminum and steel, especially for fabrication of Al-Fe clad materials. 展开更多

The heat treatment can play a part of eliminating stress and recovering property.In this study,TA1/Q345 clad plate made by explosive welding was annealed at different temperatures.The microstructure,micro-hardness,and tensile,shear,and bending properties were analyzed after anneal.The result shows that there is fibrous structure in the bonding zone and the plastic deformation is severe,the grain growth and fibrous structure dribbles away with the temperature increasing.Micro-hardness in the interface is bigger than it on the both sides. Tensile and shear strength reduced with the temperature of heat treatment increasing.The propel anneal temperature for TA1/Q345 clad plate is 600 展开更多

Cu/Al clad strips are prepared using solid?liquid cast-rolling bonding(SLCRB)technique with a d160mm×150mm twin-roll experimental caster.The extent of interfacial reactions,composition of the reaction products,and their micro-morphology evolution in the SLCRB process are investigated with scanning electron microscope(SEM),energy dispersive spectrometer(EDS),and X-ray diffraction(XRD).In the casting pool,initial aluminized coating is first generated on the copper strip surface,with the diffusion layer mainly consisting ofα(Al)+CuAl2and growing at high temperatures,with the maximum thickness of10μm.After sequent rolling below the kiss point,the diffusion layer is broken by severe elongation,which leads to an additional crack bond process with a fresh interface of virgin base metal.The average thickness is reduced from10to5μm.The reaction products,CuAl2,CuAl,and Cu9Al4,are dispersed along the rolling direction.Peeling and bending test results indicate that the fracture occurs in the aluminum substrate,and the morphology is a dimple pattern.No crack or separation is found at the bonding interface after90°-180°bending.The presented method provides an economical way to fabricate Cu/Al clad strip directly. 展开更多

Vacuum roll cladding (VRC) was used to bond pure titanium (Ti) plate to a plain low carbon steel (Q345) with the aim of obtaining a high-quality Ti-steel clad plate. The effect of interfacial compound on the mierostructure and mechanical properties of Ti-steel clad plate was studied by electron probe microanalysis, scanning electron microscopy, X-ray diffraction and shear test. The clad plates were heated at 850 ℃ for 120 min and welded at different levels of vacuum. The results indicated that the cracked zone of the bonded interface decreased significantly with the increase in the level of vacuum during welding. Welding at atmospheric pressure, the randomly distributed TiN damaged the continuity of TiC and the uniformly diffused region of Ti and Fe at the bonded interface, while welding in vacuum of 1 × 10^-2 Pa, maximum shear strength of 298 MPa was obtained because of the decrease in TiN content. 展开更多

Cu/Al bar clad material was fabricated by a drawing process and a subsequent heat treatment.During these processes,intermetallic compounds have been formed at the interface of Cu/Al and have affected its bonding property.Microstructures of Cu/Al interfaces were observed by OM,SEM and EDX Analyser in order to investigate the bonding properties of the material.According to the microstructure a series of diffusion layers were observed at the interface and the thicknesses of diffusion layers have increased with aging time as a result of the diffusion bonding.The interfaces were composed of 3-ply diffusion layers and their compositions were changed with aging time at 400 °C.These compositional compounds were revealed to be η2,(θ+η2),(α+θ) intermetallic phases.It is evident from V-notch impact tests that the growth of the brittle diffusion layers with the increasing aging time directly influenced delamination distance between the Cu sleeve and the Al core.It is suggested that the proper holding time at 400 °C for aging as post heat treatment of a drawn Cu/Al bar clad material would be within 1 h. 展开更多

Stainless steel (S S)/carbon steel (C S) clad plates were generated by means of the all-around weld of interface and vacuuming (AAWIV) followed by hot rolling, wherein AAWIV was utilized for controlling the interface oxidation during hot rolling. The structure near the interface was analyzed by optical microscopy (OM), scanning electron mi- croscopy (SEM) and transmission electron microscopy (TEM). The mechanical properties of SS/CS clad plates were investigated by tensile and shear as well as bend tests. The SS/CS interface is relatively flat and no visible separation appears. Line scanning analysis shows that diffusion of Cr and Ni from SS to CS and C from CS to SS occurred during bonding. Higher dislocation densities are observed in both layers of parent plates adhering to the interface. The SS/ CS clad plates reveal higher yield, tensile and shear strengths. Both macroscopic delamination at the interface and fracture of base CS as well as intergranular fracture appearance of flyer plate are observed in the tensile test. The shear specimen fails in a ductile manner and the bend specimen tested shows no visible crack at the interface. Taking both interracial structure and mechanical properties into account, the SS/CS clad plates exhibit sound bonding by the process of AAWIV and hot rolling. 展开更多

Hot roll bonding was carried out between commercially pure titanium TA2 and high-strength low-alloy steel Q390 using pure Nb or Mo interlayer at 950 ~C with a total reduction ratio of 86.7%. Interfacial microstructure and bonding properties of titanium clad steel plates were investigated by electron microscopy and mechanical tests. The results showed β-Ti, TiC and Fe2Ti reaction phases were generated at Ti/steel interface for the clad plates with no interlayer. Inserting Nb or Mo interlayer can effectively suppress the formation of brittle phases, while the weak bonding joint transferred to Nb/steel or Mo/steel interface. And some micro-voids were found at the interface of Nb/steel and Mo/steel. The improved shear strength of clad plates with Nb interlayer might be attributed to the elimination of brittle phases at bonding interface. The small size and little quantities of the micro-voids at Nb/steel interface had a relatively weak effect on shear strength. However, the large number and big size of micro-voids were responsible for the degradation of shear strength for the clad plates with Mo interlayer. 展开更多

The crucial technological parameters of manufacturing clad sheet, including the threshold rolling reduction and clad-rolling bonding conditions were investigated. This clad sheet was produced successfully by hot roll bonding with the intermetallic phase formation, which can be observed using conventional optical microscope. The bond interfacial structures of the AZ31 / AA1100 clad material were observed by SEM. It was be researched that the effect of anneal technology on the thickness of diffusion layer and bonding properties of clad plate. The optimal anneal time is presented based on the micro-analysis for the Mg-Al clad plate. The vital procedures of ensuring the qualities and improving the bonding strength of clad plates were described. 展开更多

A modified horizontal continuous casting process under the electromagnetic field was proposed for preparing AA3003/ AA4045 clad composite hollow billets. To investigate the effect of electromagnetic field on this process, a comprehensive three-dimensional model was developed. Two cases with and without electromagnetic field were compared using the simulations. When rotating electromagnetic stirring is applied, the flow pattern of fluid melt is greatly modified; the mushy zone becomes much wider, the temperature profile becomes more uniform, and the solid fraction decreases for both the external and internal alloy melt layers. These modifications are beneficial for the formation of a bimetal interface and fine and uniform grain structure of the clad composite hollow billet. Experiments conducted using the same electrical and casting parameters as the simulations verify that under the electromagnetic field the microstructure of the clad composite hollow billet becomes fine and the diffusion of the elements at the interface is promoted. 展开更多

The corrugated + flat rolling(CFR) and traditional rolling(TR) methods were used to prepare Mg/Al clad plates using AZ31 B Mg and 5052 Al plates, and the interface morphologies and mechanical properties of the resulting clad plates were compared. Examination of the microstructures of the plates showed that the TRed Mg/Al clad plate presented a straight interface, while a corrugated interface containing fractured intermetallic particulates was observed for the CFRed plate due to the inhomogeneous strain induced by the corrugated roller. During the CFR process, the corrugated roller can accelerate the rupture of the substrate work-hardening layers and facilitate the mutual extrusion of fresh metals to enhance the interface bonding. Compared with the traditional basal texture of the Mg alloy, the CFR process can change the texture morphology, thereby enhancing the plastic deformation ability of the Mg plate. Tensile tests showed that the CFRed Mg/Al clad plate exhibited a higher ultimate tensile strength(UTS, 316 MPa), which was~ 8% higher than that of the TRed plate(293 MPa). In addition, the bending curve of the CFRed clad plate was smooth and there was no stress sudden drop phenomenon in the bending process. The higher UTS and excellent bending properties of the CFRed clad plate could be attributed to the enhanced coordinated deformation ability of the substrates induced by the corrugated interface, grain refinement, and the change in the Mg alloy texture morphology. 展开更多

A new type oxidation resistance in situ Cr7 C3/γ-Fe ceramic composite coating was fabricated on hardened and tempered grade C steel by reactive plasma clad with Fe-Cr-C alloy powders. The oxidation resistance of the ceramic composite coating was investigated under the test condition of 900 ℃ and 50 hours. The results indicate that the coating has a rapidly solidified microstructure consisting of blocky primary Cr7 C3 and the inter-blocky Cr7 C3/γ-Fe eutectics and is metallurgically bonded to the hardened and tempered grade C steel substrate. The high temperature oxidation resistance of the coating is up to 1.9 times higher than that of grade C steel. The oxidation kinetics curve of the coating is conforming to the parabolic-rate law equation. The excellent oxidation resistance of the coating is mainly attributed to the continuous oxide films which consist of Cr203 and Fe203. The continuous oxide films can prevent the inner part of the coating from being further oxidized. 展开更多

为探究劳动力流动、服务外包及二者的交互项等因素对技术效率的影响,以河南省2058份农户的微观调研数据为例,应用超越对数随机前沿生产函数对小麦种植户的技术效率进行测算,并运用CLAD模型进行实证研究。结果显示:1)样本农户平均技术效... 为探究劳动力流动、服务外包及二者的交互项等因素对技术效率的影响,以河南省2058份农户的微观调研数据为例,应用超越对数随机前沿生产函数对小麦种植户的技术效率进行测算,并运用CLAD模型进行实证研究。结果显示:1)样本农户平均技术效率为0.707,且农户之间技术效率具有较大异质性和不均衡性;2)劳动力流动对技术效率有显著的负向影响,近距离流动下的粮食技术效率大于远距离流动下的粮食技术效率;3)服务外包对技术效率有显著的正向影响,耕种收全部关键环节外包的技术效率大于不外包或者部分关键环节外包的技术效率;4)劳动力流动和服务外包具有相互依存和相互作用的链接关系,劳动力流动有利于推动服务外包程度,服务外包又反过来能够刺激劳动力流动,并能够抑制劳动力流动对粮食技术效率带来的损失。鉴于此,提出发展地方产业增加就近就业机会、加大关键环节外包程度和土地流转等政策建议。 展开更多

Based on twin-roll casting, a cast-rolling force model was proposed to predict the rolling force in the bimetal solid-liquid cast-rolling bonding(SLCRB) process. The solid-liquid bonding zone was assumed to be below the kiss point(KP). The deformation resistance of the liquid zone was ignored. Then, the calculation model was derived. A 2D thermal-flow coupled simulation was established to provide a basis for the parameters in the model, and then the rolling forces of the Cu/Al clad strip at different rolling speeds were calculated. Meanwhile, through measurement experiments, the accuracy of the model was verified. The influence of the rolling speed, the substrate strip thickness, and the material on the rolling force was obtained. The results indicate that the rolling force decreases with the increase of the rolling speed and increases with the increase of the thickness and thermal conductivity of the substrate strip. The rolling force is closely related to the KP height. Therefore, the formulation of reasonable process parameters to control the KP height is of great significance to the stability of cast-rolling forming. 展开更多
