The prevailing models for sharp Goss texture formation during secondary recrystallization are CSL (coincident site lattice) boundary theory and HE (high energy) boundary theory. These theories stress the key factor of preferred growth and the difference between them only lies in the specific selection manner. This work examined the texture gradient in primarily recrystallized sheet and demonstrated its possible influence on the formation of secondary grains, and then determined the micro- texture during different stages of secondary recrystallization using EI3SD (electron back-scattered diffraction) technique, finally analyzed a special type of secondary grains with near Brass orientation, which were detected in the later stage of secondary recrystallization, and discussed its origin and effect in terms of surface energy effect. The results indicate that texture gradient in primarily recrystallized sheet will lead to a multi-stage formation of Goss texture, namely, early stage of secondary grains with various orientations in subsurface region, intermediate stage of preferred growth of Goss grains into center layer and re-grow back to the surface and the final stage of Goss grain growth by swallowing slowly the island grains with the help of H2 atmosphere.展开更多

Based on the experimental data, a novel constitutive relation combining a series of models was developed, including Zener-Hollomon parameter (Z), DRX critical model and kinetics model. The results show that the hot-deformed activation energy Q is calculated to be 410.172 kJ/mol, the ratio of critical strain (εc) to peak strain (εp) is a constant value of about 0.67. The predicted stress obtained by the established constitutive equations matches well with the true stress from experimental data. Despite large errors occur at the stage where strain rate is 0.1 s^-1 and the values of true strain are less than 0.1, the stage of large strain should be more concerned during plastic forming. Furthermore, the predicting accuracy with the DRX kinetics model was testified by an electron back-scattered diffraction (EBSD) technique.展开更多

The orientation imaging microscopy technique based on electron backscattered diffraction technique (EBSD) was used in this work. (t was found that the addition of 0.005 wt% Mg to the steel could evidently increase the ratio of acicular ferrite crystals appearing at large angles boundaries to each other, which was attributed to the nucleation of the second-phase particles by the Mg treatment. The FBSD techniques provide a power- ful method to characterize and quantify the ferrite grain boundaries misorientation, in order to relate it to toughness.展开更多

Extracting information about lattice parameters, orientation or stresses from those patterns generally requires additional information. As a consequence, it is necessary to make high precision measurements of the pattern center and the detector-sample distance. By modeling the focal curves of a diffraction pattern it is possible to determine these parameters from only a single exposure. The focal curves of the conic sections in the detected image intersect (ideally) at the inspected sample point. This point is also the apex of all diffraction cones. The use of the geometry of the focal curves leads to an improved accuracy for the determination of lattice constants, residual stress and strain tensors by avoiding mechanical frames and their accompanying measurement errors. Therefore, by using this analysis route it is possible to extract three-dimensional crystal information out of a single two-dimensional diffraction pattern.展开更多

This paper presents a physical experiment(isothermal hot compression and electron backscatter difraction, EBSD) and a cellular automaton(CA) method to investigate the substructure evolution of a near-α titanium alloy Ti-6Al-2Zr-1Mo-1V(TA15) isothermally compressed in the α + β two-phase region. In the CA model, the subgrain growth, the transformation of low angle boundaries(LABs) to high angle boundaries(HABs) and the dislocation density evolution were considered. The dislocation density accumulating around the subgrain boundaries provided a driving force and made the transformation of the LABs to HABs. The CA model was employed to predict the substructure evolution, dislocation density evolution and flow stress. In addition, the efects of strain, strain rate and temperature on the relative frequency of the HABs were analyzed and discussed. To verify the CA model, the predicted results including the relative frequency of the HABs and the flow stress were compared with the experimental values.展开更多
