Optimal management of thumb loss necessitates individual consideration of surgical versus prosthetic options, in relation to the needs and circumstances of each patient. This paper presents a case of prosthetic pollicization of an amputated thumb and emphasizes on the fact that the prosthetic replacement has a definite edge over surgical procedures, where amputees refuse to undergo more complicated surgical procedures. The patient was rehabilitated successfully by a noninvasive and cost-effective approach by using high temperature-vulcanized (HTV) silicone material and retaining the prosthesis with medical adhesives. On 3 months recall ap-pointment, no complications were found. The prosthesis was in good shape, without need for any repairs.展开更多
