METHODS: A retrospective analysis was performed for patients undergoing colonoscopy for suspected ileocol...AIM: To study the role of retrograde terminal ileoscopy in patients suspected to have ileocolonic tuberculosis. METHODS: A retrospective analysis was performed for patients undergoing colonoscopy for suspected ileocolonic tuberculosis between January 2000 and June 2004, in whom retrograde ileoscopy had been performed. Only patients diagnosed with tuberculosis on the basis of histological findings of either a caseating granuloma or those having non-caseating granuloma or a collection of epithelioid cells at a minimum of one endoscopic lesion (either in the colon or the terminal ileum) on histology with good responses to conventional anti-tuberculous drugs were enrolled for the study. RESULTS: Fifty-three patients were included. The terminal ileum was involved in only 11 patients. Eight of these patients had involvement of the cecum too. Two patients had ileal lesions without cecal involvement; however, lesions were noted in the ascending colon. In one patient the whole colon was normal and only the terminal ileum showed nodularity and ulceration. Histological examination of the ileal biopsies obtained from the ileal lesions showed noncaseating granulomas in five, collection of epithelioid cells in four and nonspecific histology in two patients. Mucosal biopsies obtained from the lesion in the terminal ileum, in the patient in whom mucosal abnormality was observed to be confined to the ileum, showed noncaseating granulomas. In two other patients the ileal biopsies alone showed histological evidence of tuberculosis with biopsies from the colonic lesions showing non-specific inflammatory changes only. CONCLUSION: Retrograde ileoscopy should be performed in all patients undergoing colonoscopy for suspected ileocolonic tuberculosis. In some patients only the terminal ileum may be involved and histological examination may reveal evidence of tuberculosis only from the lesions in the terminal ileum. Objective:To isolate and evaluate comparatively the binding efficacy of the mucilages obtained from the plants of Hibiscus rosasinensis and Okra(Abelmoschus esculentus).Methods:Extraction of mucilages from the leaves ...Objective:To isolate and evaluate comparatively the binding efficacy of the mucilages obtained from the plants of Hibiscus rosasinensis and Okra(Abelmoschus esculentus).Methods:Extraction of mucilages from the leaves of Hibiscus and pods of Okra(Ladies finger) was carried out by a cold maceration process.The extracted mucilages were subjected to various physicochemical properties for its suitability as an excipient in the formulation of tablet dosage form.Different concentrations(10,8,5,2 and 1%w/v) of binder solutions of Hibiscus and Okra were used for the formulation of tablets and the formulated tablets were evaluated by studying the standard parameters like diameter,thickness,weight variation,hardness,friability,disintegration and in vitro dissolution.Stability studies of the formulated tablets were conducted for four weeks. Results:The formulated tablets prepared using the mucilages of both Hibiscus and Okra had good appearance.The in vitro drug release profile of the tablets prepared using Okra mucilage had an optimum of 90%at a mucilage concentration of 1%w/v concentration mucilage itself within 4 h.Conclusions:According to the observations,the lower concentration levels of Okra can be used as an alternative binder to starch.The higher concentration levels of Okra mucilage show a slow and sustained release,and can be considered as an alternative natural excipient in the modified drug delivery systems.At the same time,the above natural excipient of Hibiscus mucilage could be used as a platform for prolonged release if its binder concentrations are increased.展开更多

Chronic lymphocytic leukemia has been rarely repo...Hematopoietic tumors are associated with diagnostic and therapeutic challenges and a poor prognosis. Furthermore, their pathophysiology in dogs is not well understood. Chronic lymphocytic leukemia has been rarely reported in golden retrievers, perhaps due to difficulties in diagnosis and care. An 8-year-old spayed female golden retriever was referred to our hospital with a 2-month history of fatigue, weakness, and selective appetite. The dog was diagnosed with chronic lymphocytic leukemia based on blood smear evaluation. Despite treatment, the dog deteriorated and the owners opted for euthanasia. Histopathological examination revealed atypical lymphocytes in the spleen, extramedullary hematopoiesis in the spleen and liver, bone marrow depletion, moderate neutrophilic myocarditis, and acute renal tubular necrosis. In an immunohistochemical panel, cells in the spleen and bone marrow were positive for anti-CD20, anti-CD45, anti-CD3, anti-IBA-1, anti-Ki67, anti-MUM-1, and anti-PAX-5. In conclusion, the leukemia diagnosis was confirmed through reactive histiocytosis, marked extramedullary hematopoiesis, and other clinical and laboratory findings. Herein, we report a case of chronic lymphocytic leukemia in a female dog with clinical, laboratory, and necroscopy findings.展开更多
In this review paper,the challenges and some recent developments of adhesive bonding technology in composite aircraft structures are discussed.The durability of bonded joints is defined and presented for parameters th...In this review paper,the challenges and some recent developments of adhesive bonding technology in composite aircraft structures are discussed.The durability of bonded joints is defined and presented for parameters that may influence bonding quality.Presented is also,a numerical design approach for composite joining profiles used to realize adhesive bonding.It is shown that environmental ageing and pre-bond contamination of bonding surfaces may degrade significantly fracture toughness of bonded joints.Moreover,it is obvious that additional research is needed in order to design joining profiles that will enable load transfer through shearing of the bondline.These findings,together with the limited capabilities of existing non-destructive testing techniques,can partially explain the confined use of adhesive bonding in primary composite aircraft structural parts.展开更多
The elastic scattering angular distributions of ^(13)C at 340 MeV and ^(14)C at 294 MeV and 342 MeV on a ^(208)Pb target,which correspond to approximately five times the Coulomb barriers,were measured at the Radioacti...The elastic scattering angular distributions of ^(13)C at 340 MeV and ^(14)C at 294 MeV and 342 MeV on a ^(208)Pb target,which correspond to approximately five times the Coulomb barriers,were measured at the Radioactive Ion Beam Line in Lanzhou.The data were analyzed within the optical model and continuum-discretized coupled-channels(CDCC)framework,and the results of both calculations could effectively account for the experimental data.The differential cross sections of elastic scattering revealed no particular suppression at the Coulomb nuclear interference peak angles,suggesting that the breakup coupling effects on the elastic scattering angular distributions were negligibly small in this incident energy region.The contributions from the couplings with inelastic states to the elastic cross sections were of minor importance within the angular range covered by these experiments.展开更多
This study investigates the echoes in axial gravitational perturbations in compact objects.Accordingly,we propose an alternative scheme of the finite difference method implemented in two coordinate systems,where the i...This study investigates the echoes in axial gravitational perturbations in compact objects.Accordingly,we propose an alternative scheme of the finite difference method implemented in two coordinate systems,where the initial conditions are placed on the axis of the tortoise coordinate with appropriate boundary conditions that fully re-spect the causality.The scheme is then employed to study the temporal profiles of the quasinormal oscillations in the Schwarzschild black hole and uniform-density stars.When presented as a two-dimensional evolution profile,the res-ulting ringdown waveforms in the black hole metric are split into reflected and transmitted waves as the initial per-turbations evolve and collide with the peak of the effective potential.Meanwhile,for compact stars,quasinormal os-cillations might be characterized by echoes.Consistent with the causality arguments,the phenomenon is produced by the gravitational waves bouncing between the divergent potential at the star's center and the peak of the effective po-tential.The implications of the present study are also discussed herein.展开更多
In the electromagnetic channel,chaotic gravitational lensing is a peculiar phenomenon in strong gravita-tional lensing.In this study,we analyze the properties and emergence of chaotic gravitational lensing in the Mank...In the electromagnetic channel,chaotic gravitational lensing is a peculiar phenomenon in strong gravita-tional lensing.In this study,we analyze the properties and emergence of chaotic gravitational lensing in the Manko-Novikov black hole spacetime.Aiming to better understand the underlying physics,we elaborate on the boundaries of the accessible region through analyses of the contours of the effective potentials.The latter is associated with the two roots of a quadratic equation.In particular,we explore its interplay with an ergoregion,which leads to specific features of the effective potentials,such as the emergence of a cuspy edge and the formation of a pocket,which serve as static constraints on the geodesics.Additionally,we investigate the properties of the radial and angular accelerations at the turning points in photon trajectories.The accelerations are further examined and may provide kinematic constraints on the geodesics,as argued herein.It is concluded that the onset of the chaotic lensing is significantly related to both con-straints;as a result,an arbitrary slight deviation in the incident photon is significantly amplified during evolution through an extensive period,demonstrating the complexity in the highly nonlinear deterministic gravitational system.展开更多

In this study,we investigate the effect of nonlinear electrodynamics on the shadows of charged,slowly rotating black holes with the presence of a cosmological constant.Rather than the null geodesic of the background b...In this study,we investigate the effect of nonlinear electrodynamics on the shadows of charged,slowly rotating black holes with the presence of a cosmological constant.Rather than the null geodesic of the background black hole spacetime,the trajectory of a photon,as a perturbation of the nonlinear electrodynamic field,is governed by an effective metric.The latter can be derived by analyzing the propagation of a discontinuity of the electromagnetic waveform.Subsequently,the image of the black hole and its shadow can be evaluated using the backward raytracing technique.We explore the properties of the resultant black hole shadows of two different scenarios of nonlinear electrodynamics,namely,the logarithmic and exponential forms.In particular,the effects of nonlinear electrodynamics on the optical image are investigated,as well as the image s dependence on other metric parameters,such as the black hole spin and charge.The resulting black hole image and shadow display rich features that potentially lead to observational implic ations.展开更多

Appropriate DNA markers must be selected for the phylogenetic analyses of Cyprinidae. In present study, the 1st intron of the S7 ribosomal protein (r-protein) gene is first used to examine the relationships among cyprinid fishes. The length of the 1st intron obtained by PCR amplification ranges from 655 to 859 bp in the 16 cyprinid species investigated, and is 602 bp in Myxocyprinus asiaticus. Out of the alignment of 925 nucleotide sites obtained, the parsimony informative sites are 499 and occupy 54% of the total sites. The results indicate that the 1st intron sequences of the S7 r-protein gene in cyprinids are rich in informative sites and vary remarkably in sequence divergence from 2.3% between close species to 66.6% between distant species. The bootstrap values of the interior nodes in the NJ (neighbor-joining) and MP (most-parsimony) trees based on the present S7 r-protein gene data are higher than展开更多

Among the products used, those based on chlorantraniliprole and Metarhizium anisopliae entomopathogenic fungus, stand out. Euborellia annulipes is an insect of the order Dermaptera considered a potential predator of sugarcane borer eggs. This study aimed to evaluate the direct and indirect effects of the bioinsecticide based on M. anisopliae (Metarril<sup>®</sup>) and the chemical insecticide chlorantraniliprole (Altacor<sup>®</sup>) on the mortality of E. annulipes nymphs and adults, the predation and feeding preference of earwigs in eggs treated with the formulated products. Predator mortality was evaluated for seven days after treatment, while the effect on predation was analyzed by preference tests with and without choice, using prey eggs. The products tested were selective to the predator, causing ≤ 2% mortality and not affecting predation. The application of M. anisopliae on sugarcane borer eggs favored the food preference of fourth-instar nymphs, males, and females of the predator. Our results show that Metarril<sup>®</sup> and Altacor<sup>®</sup> can be used to control D. saccharalis when associated with the predator E. annulipes.展开更多

Chronic lymphocytic leukemia has been rarely reported in golden retrievers, perhaps due to difficulties in diagnosis and care. An 8-year-old spayed female golden retriever was referred to our hospital with a 2-month history of fatigue, weakness, and selective appetite. The dog was diagnosed with chronic lymphocytic leukemia based on blood smear evaluation. Despite treatment, the dog deteriorated and the owners opted for euthanasia. Histopathological examination revealed atypical lymphocytes in the spleen, extramedullary hematopoiesis in the spleen and liver, bone marrow depletion, moderate neutrophilic myocarditis, and acute renal tubular necrosis. In an immunohistochemical panel, cells in the spleen and bone marrow were positive for anti-CD20, anti-CD45, anti-CD3, anti-IBA-1, anti-Ki67, anti-MUM-1, and anti-PAX-5. In conclusion, the leukemia diagnosis was confirmed through reactive histiocytosis, marked extramedullary hematopoiesis, and other clinical and laboratory findings. Herein, we report a case of chronic lymphocytic leukemia in a female dog with clinical, laboratory, and necroscopy findings.
文摘In this review paper,the challenges and some recent developments of adhesive bonding technology in composite aircraft structures are discussed.The durability of bonded joints is defined and presented for parameters that may influence bonding quality.Presented is also,a numerical design approach for composite joining profiles used to realize adhesive bonding.It is shown that environmental ageing and pre-bond contamination of bonding surfaces may degrade significantly fracture toughness of bonded joints.Moreover,it is obvious that additional research is needed in order to design joining profiles that will enable load transfer through shearing of the bondline.These findings,together with the limited capabilities of existing non-destructive testing techniques,can partially explain the confined use of adhesive bonding in primary composite aircraft structural parts.

文摘The elastic scattering angular distributions of ^(13)C at 340 MeV and ^(14)C at 294 MeV and 342 MeV on a ^(208)Pb target,which correspond to approximately five times the Coulomb barriers,were measured at the Radioactive Ion Beam Line in Lanzhou.The data were analyzed within the optical model and continuum-discretized coupled-channels(CDCC)framework,and the results of both calculations could effectively account for the experimental data.The differential cross sections of elastic scattering revealed no particular suppression at the Coulomb nuclear interference peak angles,suggesting that the breakup coupling effects on the elastic scattering angular distributions were negligibly small in this incident energy region.The contributions from the couplings with inelastic states to the elastic cross sections were of minor importance within the angular range covered by these experiments.

文摘This study investigates the echoes in axial gravitational perturbations in compact objects.Accordingly,we propose an alternative scheme of the finite difference method implemented in two coordinate systems,where the initial conditions are placed on the axis of the tortoise coordinate with appropriate boundary conditions that fully re-spect the causality.The scheme is then employed to study the temporal profiles of the quasinormal oscillations in the Schwarzschild black hole and uniform-density stars.When presented as a two-dimensional evolution profile,the res-ulting ringdown waveforms in the black hole metric are split into reflected and transmitted waves as the initial per-turbations evolve and collide with the peak of the effective potential.Meanwhile,for compact stars,quasinormal os-cillations might be characterized by echoes.Consistent with the causality arguments,the phenomenon is produced by the gravitational waves bouncing between the divergent potential at the star's center and the peak of the effective po-tential.The implications of the present study are also discussed herein.

文摘In the electromagnetic channel,chaotic gravitational lensing is a peculiar phenomenon in strong gravita-tional lensing.In this study,we analyze the properties and emergence of chaotic gravitational lensing in the Manko-Novikov black hole spacetime.Aiming to better understand the underlying physics,we elaborate on the boundaries of the accessible region through analyses of the contours of the effective potentials.The latter is associated with the two roots of a quadratic equation.In particular,we explore its interplay with an ergoregion,which leads to specific features of the effective potentials,such as the emergence of a cuspy edge and the formation of a pocket,which serve as static constraints on the geodesics.Additionally,we investigate the properties of the radial and angular accelerations at the turning points in photon trajectories.The accelerations are further examined and may provide kinematic constraints on the geodesics,as argued herein.It is concluded that the onset of the chaotic lensing is significantly related to both con-straints;as a result,an arbitrary slight deviation in the incident photon is significantly amplified during evolution through an extensive period,demonstrating the complexity in the highly nonlinear deterministic gravitational system.

文摘By analyzing the propagation of discontinuity in nonlinear electrodynamics,we numerically investigate the related black hole shadows of recently derived rotating black hole solutions in f(R)gravity.In this context,the geodesic motion of the relevant perturbations is governed by an effective geometry,which is closely related to the underlying spacetime metric.We derive the effective geometry,and the latter is used to determine the trajectory of the propagation vector of an arbitrary finite discontinuity in the electrodynamic perturbations,namely,the photon.Subsequently,the image of the black hole is evaluated using the ray-tracing technique.Moreover,we discuss the physical relevance of metric parameters,such as the nonlinear coupling,spin,and charge,by studying their impact on the resultant black hole shadows.

文摘In this study,we investigate the effect of nonlinear electrodynamics on the shadows of charged,slowly rotating black holes with the presence of a cosmological constant.Rather than the null geodesic of the background black hole spacetime,the trajectory of a photon,as a perturbation of the nonlinear electrodynamic field,is governed by an effective metric.The latter can be derived by analyzing the propagation of a discontinuity of the electromagnetic waveform.Subsequently,the image of the black hole and its shadow can be evaluated using the backward raytracing technique.We explore the properties of the resultant black hole shadows of two different scenarios of nonlinear electrodynamics,namely,the logarithmic and exponential forms.In particular,the effects of nonlinear electrodynamics on the optical image are investigated,as well as the image s dependence on other metric parameters,such as the black hole spin and charge.The resulting black hole image and shadow display rich features that potentially lead to observational implic ations.

文摘Cyprinidae is the largest fish family in the world and contains about 210 genera and 2010 species. Appropriate DNA markers must be selected for the phylogenetic analyses of Cyprinidae. In present study, the 1st intron of the S7 ribosomal protein (r-protein) gene is first used to examine the relationships among cyprinid fishes. The length of the 1st intron obtained by PCR amplification ranges from 655 to 859 bp in the 16 cyprinid species investigated, and is 602 bp in Myxocyprinus asiaticus. Out of the alignment of 925 nucleotide sites obtained, the parsimony informative sites are 499 and occupy 54% of the total sites. The results indicate that the 1st intron sequences of the S7 r-protein gene in cyprinids are rich in informative sites and vary remarkably in sequence divergence from 2.3% between close species to 66.6% between distant species. The bootstrap values of the interior nodes in the NJ (neighbor-joining) and MP (most-parsimony) trees based on the present S7 r-protein gene data are higher than
文摘Chemical and biological insecticides have been frequently used in sugarcane fields to control insects-pests, including the sugarcane borer, Diatraea saccharalis. Among the products used, those based on chlorantraniliprole and Metarhizium anisopliae entomopathogenic fungus, stand out. Euborellia annulipes is an insect of the order Dermaptera considered a potential predator of sugarcane borer eggs. This study aimed to evaluate the direct and indirect effects of the bioinsecticide based on M. anisopliae (Metarril<sup>®</sup>) and the chemical insecticide chlorantraniliprole (Altacor<sup>®</sup>) on the mortality of E. annulipes nymphs and adults, the predation and feeding preference of earwigs in eggs treated with the formulated products. Predator mortality was evaluated for seven days after treatment, while the effect on predation was analyzed by preference tests with and without choice, using prey eggs. The products tested were selective to the predator, causing ≤ 2% mortality and not affecting predation. The application of M. anisopliae on sugarcane borer eggs favored the food preference of fourth-instar nymphs, males, and females of the predator. Our results show that Metarril<sup>®</sup> and Altacor<sup>®</sup> can be used to control D. saccharalis when associated with the predator E. annulipes.

文摘表面组分调控及建立多功能活性位点是提高Pt基催化剂性能的有效途径.通过将Cu可控地锚定在纳米结构PtNi表面(Cu/PtNi)可以精确控制Pt基催化剂表面元素的化学计量比,其中亲氧的非贵金属Ni能加速水的解离,Pt由于具有适中的H吸附能,可有效地将游离态的H转换成氢气,Cu由于具有正的H吸附吉布斯自由能(ΔG_(H*)),有助于H_(2)的脱附.其中具有最优组分比例的Cu/PtNi电催化剂在海水中表现出优异的电化学析氢活性和稳定性,在碱性海水中,10 mA cm^(-2)下的过电位为23 mV(在70 mV过电位下,其质量活性是商用Pt/C的5倍).同时,密度泛函理论结果进一步验证了在碱性海水中Pt,Ni和Cu多功能金属活性位点可提高HER的H_(2)O解离、H*吸附和H_(2)脱附的过程.
