The present study was unde...Total saponins of Panax notoginseng (PNS) have been shown to ameliorate renal interstitial fibrosis. Ginsenoside Rg 1, a panaxatriol saponin, is one of the major active molecules from PNS. The present study was undertaken to investigate the effect of ginsenoside Rgl on renal fibrosis in rats with unilateral ureteral obstruction (UUO). The rats were randomly divided into 3 groups: sham-operation (n=15), UUO (n=15) and UUO with ginsenoside Rgl treatment (n=15, 50 mg per kg body weight, intraperitoneally (i.p.) injected). The rats were sacrificed on Days 7 and 14 after the surgery. Histological examination demonstrated that ginsenoside Rgl significantly inhibited interstitial fibrosis including tubular injury as well as collagen deposition, u-smooth muscle actin (α-SMA) and E-cadherin are two markers of tubular epithelial-myofibroblast transition (TEMT). Interestingly, ginsenoside Rgl notably decreased α-SMA expression and simultaneously enhanced E-cadherin expression. The messenger RNA (mRNA) of transforming growth factor-β1 (TGF-β1), a key mediator to regulate TEMT, in the obstructed kidney increased dramatically, but was found to decrease significantly after administration of ginsenoside Rg 1. Further study showed that ginsenoside Rgl considerably decreased the levels of both active TGF-β1 and phosphorylated Smad2 (pSmad2). Moreover, ginsenoside Rgl substantially suppressed the expression of thrombospondin-1 (TSP-1), a cytokine which can promote the transcription of TGF-β1 mRNA and the activation of latent TGF-β1. These results suggest that ginsenoside Rgl inhibits renal interstitial fibrosis in rats with UUO. The mechanism might be partly related to the blocking of TEMT via suppressing the expression of TSP-1.展开更多

Based on the standard samples of 12 isoflavone ...It is important to determine the isoflavone components by high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) for the molecular assistant selection of isoflavone in soybean. Based on the standard samples of 12 isoflavone components, the isoflavone components were analyzed using the determination of absorbance peaks method by HPLC. The results showed that there were different maximum ultraviolet (UV) absorbance for the aglycones of daidzein, glycitein, and genistein, which were at 250, 257, and 260 nm, respectively. A linear gradient elution of acetonitrile (13-30%) containing 0. 1% acetic acid as a mobile phase was applied on a YMC-C18 column at 35℃. The 12 isoflavone components were determined using the UV detector by HPLC. We concluded that this is a rapid and precise method which adapted to determine the large numbers of samples with microanalysis.展开更多

Hsiao is a widely used traditional Chinese medicine. The present study investigated the potential role of AM on renal fibrosis on a rat model of unilateral ureteral obstruction (UUO). We divided 48 Sprague-Dawley rats randomly into 4 groups: sham-operated group (Sham), untreated UUO group, AM-treated (10 g/(kg.d)) UUO group, and losartan-treated (20 mg/(kg.d)) UUO group as positive control. Haematoxylin & eosin (HE) and Masson staining were used to study the dynamic histological changes of the kidneys 7 and 14 d after operation. The expressions of fibronectin (FN), type I collagen (coil), hepatocyte growth factor (HGF), transforming growth factor-β1 (TGF-β1), and eL-smooth muscle actin (α-SMA) were analyzed by real-time polymerase chain reaction (PCR), immunohistochemistry staining, and Western blot. Results show that, similar to losartan, AM alleviated the renal damage and decreased the deposition of FN and coil from UUO by reducing the expressions of TGF-β1 and α-SMA (P〈0.05), whereas HGF increased greatly with AM treatment (P〈0.05). Our findings reveal that AM could retard the progression of renal fibrosis. The renoprotective effect of AM might be related to inhibition ofmyofibroblast activation, inducing of HGF and reducing of TGF-β1 expression.展开更多

Pulmonary abnormalities,dysfunction or hyper-reactivity occurs in association with inflammatory bowel disease(IBD) more frequently than previously recognized.Emerging evidence suggests that subtle inflammation exists ...Pulmonary abnormalities,dysfunction or hyper-reactivity occurs in association with inflammatory bowel disease(IBD) more frequently than previously recognized.Emerging evidence suggests that subtle inflammation exists in the airways among IBD patients even in the absence of any bronchopulmonary symptoms,and with normal pulmonary functions. The pulmonary impairment is more pronounced in IBD patients with active disease than in those in remission. A growing number of case reports show that the IBD patients develop rapidly progressive respiratory symptoms after colectomy,with failure to isolate bacterial pathogens on repeated sputum culture,and often request oral corticosteroid therapy. All the above evidence indicates that the inflammatory changes in both the intestine and lung during IBD. Clinical or subclinical pulmonary inflammation accompanies the main inflammation of the bowel.Although there are clinical and epidemiological reports of chronic inflammation of the pulmonary and intestinal mucosa in IBD,the detailed mechanisms of pulmonaryintestinal crosstalk remain unknown. The lung has no anatomical connection with the main inflammatory site of the bowel. Why does the inflammatory process shift from the gastrointestinal tract to the airways? The clinical and subclinical pulmonary abnormalities,dysfunction,or hyper-reactivity among IBD patients need further evaluation. Here,we give an overview of the concordance between chronic inflammatory reactions in the airways and the gastrointestinal tract. A better understanding of the possible mechanism of the crosstalk among the distant organs will be beneficial in identifying therapeutic strategies for mucosal inflammatory diseases such as IBD and allergy.展开更多

Most patients have connective ...BACKGROUND Aortic dissection during pregnancy is a rare but life-threatening event for mothers and fetuses. It often occurs in the third trimester of pregnancy and the postpartum period. Most patients have connective tissue diseases such as Marfan syndrome. Thus, the successful repair of a sporadic aortic dissection with maternal and fetal survival in the early second trimester is extremely rare. CASE SUMMARY A 28-year-old woman without Marfan syndrome presented with chest pain at the 16th gestational week. Aortic computed tomographic angiography confirmed an acute type A aortic dissection (TAAD) with aortic arch and descending aorta involvement. Preoperative fetal ultrasound confirmed that the fetus was stable in the uterus. The patient underwent total arch replacement with a frozen elephant trunk using moderate hypothermic circulatory arrest with the fetus in situ. The patient recovered uneventfully and continued to be pregnant after discharge. At the 38^th gestational week, she delivered a healthy female infant by cesarean section. After 2.5 years of follow-up, the patient is uneventful and the child’s development is normal. CONCLUSION A fetus in the second trimester may have a high possibility of survival and healthy growth after aortic arch surgery.展开更多
Background:The aim of this work is to detect and compare the peripheral blood mi RNA expression profiles in patients with severe traumatic brain injury(s TBI)2,12,24,48,and 72 h after injury at high altitude and to pr...Background:The aim of this work is to detect and compare the peripheral blood mi RNA expression profiles in patients with severe traumatic brain injury(s TBI)2,12,24,48,and 72 h after injury at high altitude and to predict the target genes of differential expressed mi RNAs.Methods:Twenty s TBI patients from high-altitude areas were randomly selected according to the inclusion and exclusion criteria and were divided into five groups:the 2-h group,12-h group,24-h group,48-h group,and 72-h group.Peripheral blood mi RNA expression profiles were detected using real-time quantitative PCR(q RT-PCR).Results:The expression levels of mi R-18 a,mi R-203,mi R-146 a,mi R-149,mi R-23 b,and mi R-let-7 b in peripheral blood showed significant differences between the 2-h group and the 12-h group.The expression levels of mi R-203,mi R-146 a,mi R-149,mi R-23 b,and mi R-let-7 f in peripheral blood were up-regulated in the 24-h group.In the 48-h group,the expression levels of mi R-181 d,mi R-29 a,and mi R-18 b were upregulated.In the 72-h group,the expression levels of mi R-203,mi R-146 a,mi R-149,mi R-23 b,and mi R-let-7 f changed.The main target genes of the differentiation expressed mi RNAs were genes that regulate inflammatory responses,apoptosis,and DNA damage/repair.Conclusions:mi RNAs may be involved in the pathogenesis of s TBI by dynamically regulating the target genes that regulate inflammatory responses,apoptosis,and DNA damage/repair pathways.展开更多

Thus, the parameters of set-up and manipulating are more difficult. With the aid of FE code MSC. MARC, the tension leveling process of thin strip steel was numerically simulated. Concentrating on the influence of the roll intermeshes in 2# anti-cambering on the distribution and magnitude of residual stresses in leveled strip steel, several experiments were clone with the tension leveler based on the results from the simulation. It was found from the simulation that the magnitude of longitudinal residual stresses in the cross-section of the leveled strip steel regularly presents obvious interdependence with the roll intermeshes in 2# anti-cambering. In addition, there is a steady zone as the longitudinal residual stresses of the surface layers in leveled strip steel vary with the roll intermeshes of 2# anticambering, which is of importance in the manipulation of tension levelers. It was also found that the distribution of strains and stresses across the width of strip steel is uneven during leveling or after removing the tension loaded upon the strip, from which it was found that 3D simulation could not be replaced by 2D analysis because 2D analysis in this case cannot represent the physical behavior of strip steel deformation during tension leveling.展开更多
Many perovskite oxide ferroelectrics(e.g.PbZr_(1-x)Ti_(x)O_(3),BaTiO_(3),LiNbO_(3))are born with multitudinous robust performances and have been widely used in sensors,actuators,surface acoustic wave devices,and memor...Many perovskite oxide ferroelectrics(e.g.PbZr_(1-x)Ti_(x)O_(3),BaTiO_(3),LiNbO_(3))are born with multitudinous robust performances and have been widely used in sensors,actuators,surface acoustic wave devices,and memories et al.However,their hardness,brittleness and harsh synthesis conditions(i.e.high temperature and oxygen ambience)restrain their application into flexible electronic devices which are significant components among the three pillars of modern society development,i.e.energy,information and materials.Here we review the preparation of flexible devices based on these oxide ferroelectrics,including transferring these freestanding films to flexible substrates after separating ferroelectric oxide films from the hard substrates,such as Si and SrTiO_(3) crystals,and also direct fabrication methods without transferring process.Subsequently,we summarize three kinds of representative flexible devices,i.e.flexible ferroelectric memories,sensors and generators.These inorganic electronics not only show excellent electric properties competitive with those corresponding electronics on hard substrates but also exhibit good flexibility similar to many organic flexible electronics.展开更多

The patient recovered uneventfully and continued to be pregnant after discharge. At the 38^th gestational week, she delivered a healthy female infant by cesarean section. After 2.5 years of follow-up, the patient is uneventful and the child’s development is normal. CONCLUSION A fetus in the second trimester may have a high possibility of survival and healthy growth after aortic arch surgery.

文摘Background:The aim of this work is to detect and compare the peripheral blood mi RNA expression profiles in patients with severe traumatic brain injury(s TBI)2,12,24,48,and 72 h after injury at high altitude and to predict the target genes of differential expressed mi RNAs.Methods:Twenty s TBI patients from high-altitude areas were randomly selected according to the inclusion and exclusion criteria and were divided into five groups:the 2-h group,12-h group,24-h group,48-h group,and 72-h group.Peripheral blood mi RNA expression profiles were detected using real-time quantitative PCR(q RT-PCR).Results:The expression levels of mi R-18 a,mi R-203,mi R-146 a,mi R-149,mi R-23 b,and mi R-let-7 b in peripheral blood showed significant differences between the 2-h group and the 12-h group.The expression levels of mi R-203,mi R-146 a,mi R-149,mi R-23 b,and mi R-let-7 f in peripheral blood were up-regulated in the 24-h group.In the 48-h group,the expression levels of mi R-181 d,mi R-29 a,and mi R-18 b were upregulated.In the 72-h group,the expression levels of mi R-203,mi R-146 a,mi R-149,mi R-23 b,and mi R-let-7 f changed.The main target genes of the differentiation expressed mi RNAs were genes that regulate inflammatory responses,apoptosis,and DNA damage/repair.Conclusions:mi RNAs may be involved in the pathogenesis of s TBI by dynamically regulating the target genes that regulate inflammatory responses,apoptosis,and DNA damage/repair pathways.

文摘Cold-rolled thin strip steel of high flatness quality undergoes multistage deformation during tension leveling. Thus, the parameters of set-up and manipulating are more difficult. With the aid of FE code MSC. MARC, the tension leveling process of thin strip steel was numerically simulated. Concentrating on the influence of the roll intermeshes in 2# anti-cambering on the distribution and magnitude of residual stresses in leveled strip steel, several experiments were clone with the tension leveler based on the results from the simulation. It was found from the simulation that the magnitude of longitudinal residual stresses in the cross-section of the leveled strip steel regularly presents obvious interdependence with the roll intermeshes in 2# anti-cambering. In addition, there is a steady zone as the longitudinal residual stresses of the surface layers in leveled strip steel vary with the roll intermeshes of 2# anticambering, which is of importance in the manipulation of tension levelers. It was also found that the distribution of strains and stresses across the width of strip steel is uneven during leveling or after removing the tension loaded upon the strip, from which it was found that 3D simulation could not be replaced by 2D analysis because 2D analysis in this case cannot represent the physical behavior of strip steel deformation during tension leveling.

文摘Many perovskite oxide ferroelectrics(e.g.PbZr_(1-x)Ti_(x)O_(3),BaTiO_(3),LiNbO_(3))are born with multitudinous robust performances and have been widely used in sensors,actuators,surface acoustic wave devices,and memories et al.However,their hardness,brittleness and harsh synthesis conditions(i.e.high temperature and oxygen ambience)restrain their application into flexible electronic devices which are significant components among the three pillars of modern society development,i.e.energy,information and materials.Here we review the preparation of flexible devices based on these oxide ferroelectrics,including transferring these freestanding films to flexible substrates after separating ferroelectric oxide films from the hard substrates,such as Si and SrTiO_(3) crystals,and also direct fabrication methods without transferring process.Subsequently,we summarize three kinds of representative flexible devices,i.e.flexible ferroelectric memories,sensors and generators.These inorganic electronics not only show excellent electric properties competitive with those corresponding electronics on hard substrates but also exhibit good flexibility similar to many organic flexible electronics.
