摘要
南宋陈淳的《北溪字义》是解读理学、尤其是朱子思想的重要文本,也是东亚最早的哲学辞典。《北溪字义》首次建构了一个理学范畴体系的完整的逻辑结构,同时还自觉地将诠释方法作为它的重要内容,在中国哲学范畴发展史上具有十分重要的意义。《北溪字义》具有完整的逻辑体系,在结构上也有精心的安排。其卷上为内圣之学,包括心性论和道德论(或功夫论);卷下为外王之学,包括理本论、教化论和异端批判。《北溪字义》还探讨了范畴关系的诠释方法:"字义"的界分与脉络———范畴的界限与联系,"字义"的竖观、横观与交错言之———范畴的纵横交错关系等。
The Pei-hsi tzu-I is the earliest philosophical dictionary in East Asia and an important book by which to interpret the ideas of Neo-Confucianism, especially Zhuzism. In fact, the author constructed in the book an earliest and complete logical structure for the category system of Neo-Confucianism. He regarded annotation method as an important part of the book. The book is significantly meaningful in the history of development of Chinese philosophical category. As further studies of The Pei-hsi tzu-I show, the book has a complete logical system and elegantly arranged structure. Volume 1 is concerned with NEI SHENG ZHI XUE, which includes XIN XING LUN and DAO DE LUN (or GONG FU LUN), and Volume 2 with WAI WANG ZHI XUE, which includes LI BEN LUN, JIAO HUA LUN and heterodoxy criticism. In Addition, The Pei-hsi tzu-I explored the annotation method of category relationships:the definitions and development of 'word meaning', i.e. the boundaries and connections among categories, and the vertical, horizontal, and intertwining relations among the categories.
