英国著名小说家哈德森的代表作《绿厦》中包含丰富而深刻的自然观。在小说中,哈德森通过展现阿贝尔和里玛的爱情悲剧,生动地表现了人类对自然的永恒依恋,深刻地揭示了人类文明的历史进程及其与自然之间的永恒矛盾和冲突,无情地批评了人类在发展经济过程中对自然环境的破坏行为,呼吁人类尊重、热爱和保护自然。在哈德森看来,追求人与自然的和谐相融应该成为人类的道德理想或价值目标。
Green Mansions is the masterpiece of Hudson, the prominent British novelist. The novel offers the best expression of Hudson's view of nature through the presentation of the tragic love story between Abel and Rima. In the novel, Hudson discloses the permanent contradictions and conflicts between human civilization and nature, criticizes human destruction of natural environment, and calls on mankind to respect, love and protect nature. In Hudson's eyes, it is nothing but the unity between man and nature that should be pursued by mankind as his moral ideal.
