龙门石窟中的擂鼓台中洞是武周时期的有关早期禅宗的洞窟,主尊像应是释迦佛,窟内的二十五祖师像及《付法藏因缘传》,是早期禅宗史祖师说的肇始。
In the Longmen Grottoes, there is a cave in the middle of the series three caves with one entrance called Leigutai Zhongdong (The Cave with a platform for contests in beating Drum) which is an important cave dating from the early 7th century (under the reign of the empress of Wuzetian( 690 -704)) belongs to the Zen Sect of the early stage of the development in China. The main chief sculpture in this cave should be Sakyamuni Buddha; The existing twenty - five sculptures in relief are the Masters of the Zen Sect found in this cave and A History of the Indian Patriarchs were found to be translated by this time and copied for publication gives a sign of the starting point of the history of the successions of the twenty-five patriarchs of Zen Sect in the early stage.
