摘要
中国留学生在海外留学期间,特别是初始适应时期(initialadjustmentperiod)所遭遇的困难和挫折主要起因于文化与文化差异。相关的研究和调查结果表明:出国留学生跨文化认知能力和交际能力培养方面的缺失,是导致他们在跨文化交往不同层面失败的主要原因之一。因此,跨文化认知和交际能力的培养对出国留学生跨文化交往的成功具有不容忽视的意义和作用。
This study investigates Mainland Chinese students studying and intending to study overseas. It explores their attitudes towards and expectations from Intercultural Training (ICT), and their worst difficulties in the target culture. The main purposes are to explore the significance of ICT to Chinese students studying and intending to study abroad, and to offer suggestions to ICT in China. Data have been collected mainly through questionnaires and interviews, involving 67 participants altogether. The results reveal that a majority of the difficulties experienced by the students during their adjustment stage largely stemmed from culture and cultural differences. The findings of the study strongly point to the need for incorporating ICT into pre-departure training for would-be Chinese overseas students. Contents of pre-departure ICT are proposed. Suggestions for future training and research are recommended.
