Seven amino acid derivatives were resolved on a high performance liquid chromatograpic chiral stationary phase consisting of immobilized network polymer derived from L-tartaric acid in the normal-phase mode. The effects of the column temperature, the type and concentration of the polar alcohol modifier on the chiral resolution were studied. Associated with the calculated thermodynamic parameters, the mechanism of chiral recognition was discussed. All these amino acid derivatives can be baseline separated using hexane/2-propanol(95∶5) as eluent, at a flow rate of 1 mL/min and at 25℃, with reasonable retention times(<12 min).
