The richness of the natural resources of Wuyi Mountain has been well-known to scientists at home and abroad. The macroscopical fauna and flora of Wuyi Mt. have long been collected, studied and distributed in museums and her- baria of many countries in the world, but the microscopical plants and animals, so far known, have not yet been touched by investigators, and remain very little known. In the summer, 1979, between June and early July, while participating the first conference of 'The Nature Conservation of Wuyi Mountain', the writers took opportunity to collect algae within the N. C. Region, which in reality was the first tact of Wuyi’s algal flora. In a short period, and within a limited area we collected 58 field numbers, including 129 bottles of preserved specimens, Under microscopical examinations we found they belong to 3 phyta, 21 families, and 45 genera (not including the Bacillariophyceae). This paper only enumerates a list of the genera, and the species under each genus first seen under the microscope. Detailed studies of each family, genus and species will be published in future articles.
