摘要
因特网的日益普及不仅给人们提供了一个重要的交际工具,而且也给英语教学提供了极大的便利。英语教学的主要目标是培养学生的交际能力,而因特网给学生提供了大量用英语交流的机会。因特网的几种较为流行的服务形式,如万维网浏览,电子邮件,新闻组,邮件列表和IRC(InternetRelayChat,Internet中继聊天),在英语教学中的应用分别有各自的优缺点。
The Internet is not only an important communicative tool for people, but also beneficial to English language teaching. Since the objective of EFL is to develop students' communicative competence, the Internet contributes to helping students communicate in English. The article deals with the ways in which various Internet applications (the World Wide Web, email, newsgroups, mailing lists, and Internet Relay Chat) can be used in an EFL teaching context. They each have separate characteristics that can be exploited in different ways in the English classroom.
