As one of the traditional performing arts in Japan, Noh originated from Chinese sangaku and has experienced a long-term development. During this process, it has evolved into a fusion of theological songs and dances in Japan, where dengaku was used specially to pray for good harvests, while sarugaku featured aspects of vaudeville and imitation. Additionally, it is also closely related with traditional Japanese sacrificial activities. Although Noh now exists as a kind of performing art for recreation, many elements of sacrifice can be seen through its staging, props and performance which allow audiences to feel transported to engaging settings.
