摘要
目前,我国翻译界多数学者认为直译和意译是两种可行的翻译方法,但二者既有区别又有联系。从严复“信、达、雅”的角度进行全面分析并从译文和原文的关系、译文和读者的关系、译文艺术性三方面对直译和意译进行比较,不难得出结论:直译违反严复的“信、达、雅”翻译原则,意译则符合“信、达、雅”翻译原则。
Literal translation and free translation are accepted as two practical translation methods by most scholars in translation circle in China. These two methods are interrelated but different. In this article, the writers first make an all-around analysis of the translation standard proposed by Yan Fu: “faithfulness, expressiveness and elegance”, then make a comparison between the two methods from the relationship between the target text and the source text, the relationship between the target text and the reader, and the artistry of the target text. At the end of the paper, the writers come to the conclusion that literal translation runs counter to Yan Fu′s translation principle while free translation accord with it.
