摘要
<金苹果>是美国当代著名作家尤多拉·韦尔蒂的短篇小说集的代表作品.本文主要从文化的角度探讨一下其中漫游者的形象.漫游者是美国文学中常见的一种文学形象.在<金苹果>中,一方面,传统文学作品中常见的并被热情歌颂的男性漫游者形象显得越来越与时代不合节拍.另一方面,女性漫游者开始崛起.漫游者形象的逐渐演变清晰地反映了20世纪上半期美国文化意识对漫游者看法的改变以及女性地位的提高.
Wanderers are quite common in American literary works. Yet in Eudora Welty's short story cycle The Golden Apples, male wanderers who are often eulogized in traditional works turn out to be false heroes or mock-heroes, for they cannot keep pace with the changing world. At the same time, female wanderers step onto the stage. Those changes reflect in a way a cultural re-evaluation of wanderers and the penetrating influence of women's lib on American social consciousness in the first half of the 20th century.
