The paper discusses two ritual bronzes that are currently housed in the School of Architecture at Tsinghua University and referred to as xianding(a type of cauldron) and xiaoyou(a type of covered pot) in the records of the school library. The ding-type vessel is designated as one of the 'Seven Vessels from Liangshan';the you-type vessel contains inscriptions but their meaning is not immediately clear. The two bronzes were handed over to Tsinghua University in 1948. This paper brings together the information from the bronze inscriptions and object labels;it investigates the history of the artifacts at Tsinghua University in modem times and discusses,on a purely hypothetical basis, the historical reasons for passing on such cultural relics to the School of Architecture.
