摘要
该文介绍了彼得·纽马克提出的两个翻译原则。按照纽马克的翻译原则,译文应该忠实和自然。笔者以翻译《小杜丽》一书的经验为基础,采用以上两原则对《小杜丽》的两种译本进行了检验。该文还探讨了文学翻译中的难点。
Two principles of translation advocated by Peter Newmark are described. According to his principles, a translation should boast faithfulness and naturalness. On this basis, and according to the author's experience in translating of Little Dorrit, the two principles are applied to appraise two translations of Little Dorrit. The difficulties in literary translation are also illustrated.
