The gaze contains gender awareness. Female consciousness was portrayed extremely delicate and profound in the Cat in the Rain created by Hemingway. The story has left readers a permanent suspense and an endless space of discourse interpretation. This paper is intended to employ the theory of gaze as a starting point, aiming to reveal the heroine's identity crisis and demonstrate the awakening of female consciousness as well.
