摘要
Jane and Tess are the heroines of Jane Eyre and Tess of the D'Ubervilles. They all lived in the same period and have similarities in miserable experience and personality. However, due to their different growing experiences, family environments, and the degrees of education they received, they have different views on the concept and manner of females'independence and equality, the concept of love and the manner of rebellion. That leads to two totally different destinies. In this paper, it attempts to analyze the images of Jane Eyre and Tess in terms of these aspects.
