摘要
将伯氏始氏鼎铭与相关铜器铭文及《春秋》经传等有关文字对读,可以确定,鼎铭的'芈嫚?'应即《左传》桓公十三年及庄公四年所云之楚武王夫人邓曼,系楚文王之母、邓祁侯之姊妹,该鼎系邓伯及夫人姒氏为其出嫁楚国所作媵器。鼎铭的'伯氏'与邓公簋盖铭的'邓公'系一人,即见于文献的邓祁侯之父邓侯吾离,其在位时间当在春秋早期中叶前后,卒于公元前705年以后,其在位和亡故时间皆较其婿楚武王在位(公元前740—前690年)和亡故时间(前690年)略早。
A comparative study of the inscription on the Boshi Shishi Ding,inscriptions on related bronzes and related historical records in Spring and Autumn Annals makes it certain that the inscription of'芈嫚?'on this ding should refer to Deng Man,wife of King Wuwang of Chu,mentioned in The 13th Year of Duke Huan and The 4th Year of Duke Zhuang in The Commentary of Zuo.She was the mother of King Wenwang of Chu and sister of Marquis Deng Qi.This ding is part of the dowry prepared by Count Deng and his wife nee Si for her marriage in the State of Chu.The'Boshi'in the inscription on this ding and the'Denggong'in the inscription of the lid of the a bronze gui are the same person,namely Marquis Deng Wuli—father of Marquis Deng Qi—in historical documents,who was in power around the early Spring and Autumn Period and deceased after 705 BC.These two dates were slightly earlier than the date when his son-in-law King Wuwang of Chu was in power(740–690 BC)and the date when the king passed away(690 BC).
