摘要
缘起于20世纪90年代末的韩国“殖民现代性”论述,最早发端于美国东亚学界,后成为韩国殖民史论述的“第三条路”。“殖民现代性”论述呈现出多元的研究倾向与方法,体现了“自下而上”书写历史的问题意识,“民族”不再是考查殖民史的单一维度,“规训权力”、“民众”、“都市文化”、“殖民地公共性”乃至“东亚”等多重维度的介入丰富了殖民史论述的面向,不仅对民族主义,也对现代性提出了明确的批判,提供了超越西方中心主义思考的可能性。
The oretical framework of "colonial modernity",first articulated by the US-based academy as a way to frame the complex histories of East Asia,has been influential in explaining the construction of Korean modernity during the colonial periods. New perspectives and methodologies began to consolidate arguments based on the researchers who advocated the theory of colonial modernity,as was the case with urban modernity,the history of everyday life,colonial publicness,as well as new history of people and transnational history,which reprints an attempt not to study history from the standpoint of the nationstate,but rather from that of the lower strata of society and people. Away from Euro-American perspectives,researchers also paid much more attention to the context of Asia. The new approaches,therefore,not only criticize the vantage point of nationalism and the centrality of modernity to Korean historiography,but also question the supremacy of the Western model of modernity itself.
