摘要
独立与合作共同组成了美国人的独特民族精神,使他们区别于没有拓荒经历的其他国家民众。拓荒精神并未随着拓荒时代的结束而消失,而是继续影响着现当代美国人的生活方式。
The American history expert Fredrick Jackson Turner delievered his famous'Frontier Thesis'in 1893,which credited the American's unique temperament of independence with American's frontier experiences.Turner named the unique character'frontier spirit'.However,he did not mention the spirit of cooperation,which constitutes another aspect of frontier spirit.Besides,Turner did not live long enough to discover the influence of fontier spirit on present-day Americans, but this issue is worth noticing.These unresolved issues shall be discussed in this paper.
