摘要
文章以翟理斯《聊斋志异选》为研究对象,从语言、文化、交际三个方面分析其译本取得成功的原因,以期为典籍对外译介研究提供新的思路。研究发现:就语言维度而言,译者要把握英汉不同的语言特点,调整语序或运用词性来显现原文的逻辑;就文化维度而言,要根据原文语境,适当选择意译或直译,可使用译语文化中常见的文化意象来对应中文中出现的文化意象,以此传递文化信息;就交际维度而言,要考虑译文读者的阅读期待与需求,合理做出省译、增译等适应选择。
In order to provide new ideas for the study of foreign translations of Chinese Classics,this article analyzes the reasons for the success of H.A.Giles'Strange Stories from a Chinese Studio from three dimensions,linguistic dimensi-on,cultural dimension and communitive dimension.The study finds that:In terms of linguistic dimension,translators should grasp the different linguistic character-istics of English and Chinese,adjust the word order or use the parts of speech to show the logic of the original text;In terms of cultural dimension,free transl-ation,additional translation or literal translation should be appropriately used according to the context of the original text,and cultural images commonly found in the target language culture can be used to correspond to cultural images in Chinese to convey cultural information.As far as the communicative dimension is concerned,translators should consider the reading expectations and needs of the target readers,and make reasonable adaptation choices such as ommision and amplification.
