摘要
新文化运动期间,以陈独秀为代表的先驱者通过写作和翻译引进了大量外来术语,为中国的思想和语言改革做出了贡献。本文以陈独秀在新文化运动期间的翻译和创作作品为语料,探索此期间陈独秀在翻译和写作中对外来术语的处理方式,对比两者之间的异同,从个人惯习、语言观、译名观和译写场域等角度对其进行解释性探讨。本文认为这些处理方式体现的不仅是翻译和传播策略,同时也是一种语言策略,是在汉语改革过渡期的一种权宜之计。
During the New Culture Movement,pioneers represented by Chen Duxiu made significant contributions to the reform of Chinese thought and language by introducing a large number of foreign terms through writing and translation.Based on the translations and works by Chen Duxiu during the New Culture Movement,this paper studies his handling of the foreign terminology in his translating and writing and illustrates the similarities and dissimilarities between them.After an interpretive study of the handlings from such perspectives as Chen Duxiu’s habitus,his linguistic and translation ideas and also the common practice in the translating and writing fields,a conclusion has been drawn that Chen’s handling is not only a translating and disseminating strategy,but also a linguistic one,an expedient in the Chinese language reform.
