摘要
“云南”地名来源及含义的解释,旧说以为系“彩云之南”,学界前贤多论证为“云山之南”,二说皆基于汉语语义。但基于地方史和语义场理论所作的考察表明,云南一名应源于昆明人的语言,后来成为白族语的底层词之一。其正确含义应为“云(雾)(环)绕(之地)”或“云(彩)(缭)绕(之地)”,而与南北方位无关。
The explanation of the origin and meaning of the place name"Yunnan"is based on Chinese semantics,with the old theory suggesting it is"the south of colorful clouds"and previous scholars in academia arguing that it is"the south of Yunshan".However,investigations based on local history and semantic field theory indicate that a language from Yunnan that originated from the Kunming people later became one of the lower level words in the Bai language.The correct meaning should be"cloud(fog)(ring)around(place)"or"cloud(color)(halo)around(place)",regardless of the north-south orientation.
