The enrichment characteristics and distribution law of harmful elements(S,P,As,F,Cl,U,Th,V)in coal were studied by using the data from the assay tests of minable coal seams during the exploration process of Wangjiazhai Coal Mine in Liupanshui,Guizhou.Based on the content of harmful elements in coal, the enrichment characteristics of harmful elements in minable coal seams were analyzed by using the concept of enrichment coefficient, and the plane and vertical distribution laws of mildly enriched harmful elements were studied. The results show that S,Th and V are mildly enriched in some of the mineable coal seams;on the plane, the mildly enriched sulfur element is produced continuously in the mining area, while the mildly enriched thorium and vanadium elements are sporadically distributed;vertically, the enrichment coefficient of sulfur increases and then decreases from the top to the bottom(except for 7 and 17 coal seams),and is mildly enriched in 1,4,and 8 coal seams;the thorium element is mildly enriched in the 1 coal seam only, and is normally enriched in the rest of coal seams;and the vanadium element is mildly enriched in 8,13,and 14 coal seams, and normally enriched in the rest of coal seams.
