摘要
在中国早期文本中,器物凝聚着社会文化内容。从横截面切入,考察器物的制作和使用、种类和形态、功用和场合,以及对语言和思想的渗透,是一条观念史的研究路径。对器物之意义的考察,如果跳出作为修辞学的隐喻,我们可以发现更为深层的社会意识形态建构方式。事实上,人们对事物命名的方式,构成了一个隐喻系统。在此系统之中,器物参与了事物的制名方式。这是由于器物与社会生活中的礼制、道德和规范之间存在着直接关联。以器物制名,体现出器物对社会生活诸方面的规定。可见,在参照器物的基础上,人们制定了社会生活领域的基本规范和准则。从这个意义上说,器物凝聚了语文学意义上的概念史。元典之话语功能在于生长出中华文化的根隐喻,确立了后世得以言说的公共概念,这为中华文明构筑了思想根基。在此过程中,器物成为意义赖以生成的原型、名称和隐喻。探寻器物经验在古典语境中的线索,及其在中国现代化进程中的行踪,对探讨现代精神秩序具有参照意义。
In early ancient Chinese texts,artefacts involve social and cultural activities.To look via their intersecting surfaces into the production,use,types,forms,functions and scenarios of artefacts as well as their penetration into language and thought has been an approach to the study of the history of ideas.An examination of the meaning of artefacts that goes beyond metaphor as rhetoric reveals deeper ways of constructing social ideologies.Indeed,the way people name things constitutes a system of metaphors,within which artefacts participate in the way things are named due to the direct connection between artefacts and the rituals,morals and norms of social life.To name via artefacts reflects their regulation on various aspects of social life.It can be seen that,with reference to artefacts,people set the basic norms and guidelines of social life.In this sense,artefacts incarnate the history of concepts in philological studies.The discourse function of the original classics lies in the fact that it gives birth to the root metaphors of Chinese culture,establishes the public concepts that later generations can speak of,and constructs the ideological foundation for Chinese civilization.In this process,artefacts become the archetypes,names,and metaphors on which meaning is generated.To search for the clues for the involvement of artefacts in the classical contexts,and their traces in Chinese modernity process has significance for reference in exploring the modern spiritual order.
