摘要
“隐喻”作为医患沟通中的一种重要言语表现形式,在解释和描述病情方面发挥着不可替代的作用。医生在与患者交流时,往往会借助“隐喻”这种修辞手法,使复杂的医学术语和诊断信息变得更加生动、形象,以便患者能够更容易理解和接受。这种表述方式不仅能缓解患者的恐惧和焦虑,也能增进医患之间的信任与合作。然而,“隐喻”的使用也并非毫无风险,不当的“隐喻”可能会导致误解甚至恐慌,进而影响治疗效果。因此,如何恰当地运用隐喻进行医患沟通,成为医学语言学和沟通研究中的一个重要的议题。语言哲学的发展不仅为理解“隐喻”提供了相关路径,同时也有利于甄别出其理解过程中可能出现的问题。一方面是医患沟通中“隐喻”理解的“不确定性”;另一方面是医患之间“预设”信息的差异可能导致“隐喻”理解的偏差。希望通过学理上的分析,为医患沟通中“隐喻”的运用提供参考,从而促进医患关系的和谐发展,提高医疗服务的质量和效果。
Metaphors serve as important linguistic tools in doctor-patient communication,especially in describing and elucidating medical conditions to patients.Metaphors are widely used in doctor-patient communication because they represent complex medical terminology and diagnostic information in a more vivid and comprehensible way,which allows patients to understand and accept what doctors intend to convey.Also,doctors use metaphors to alleviate patients’fear and anxiety,thus enhancing trust and cooperation between them.However,it is noted that some challenges should be considered.In other words,the misuse of metaphors may cause misunderstandings,which could compromise the effectiveness of treatments.In this context,the proper use of metaphors is a significant issue in linguistics and communication studies.The development of philosophy of language not only offers various approaches to account for metaphors but also raises some issues in how doctors and patients understand metaphors.One point relates to the indeterminacy of metaphors,which means a single metaphor could have multiple interpretations.If this occurs,a patient may become confused when a doctor utters a metaphor.Another point involves the presuppositions in metaphors,which emphasize the implicit assumptions or background knowledge that a metaphor relies on for its interpretation.These presuppositions influence how a patient understands a metaphor.If the patient does not share the same presuppositions as the doctor,they may misunderstand what the doctor intends to convey.The aim of this paper is to address the challenges of metaphor use in doctor-patient communication through theoretical analysis,thereby fostering harmonious doctor-patient relationships and improving the quality and effectiveness of healthcare services.
