Marine pelagic nektons have strong micronutrient concentrating capacity, and through the biomagnification of food chain, the micronutrients concentrated in their bodies will be passed to organisms at higher trophic levels.Trace elements are important componerts of marine pelagic nektons, playing key functions in the bone formation, sustaining the stability of internal environment, maintaining the normal metabolism and promoting growth and development of marine fish.In order to understand the characteristics of muscle trace elements enrichment in several species in the Northwest Pacific Ocean, six species of pelagic nektons in the area were collected(Sardinops sagax,Nealotus tripes,Engraulis japonicus,Gonatopsis borealis,Eucleoteuthis luminosa and Onychoteuthis borealijaponica)from June to August,2022 by research vessel“Songhang”and analyzed to characterize the distribution of essential trace elements B,Cr,Mn,Fe,Co,Cu,Zn,and Se in their muscles and their transfer patterns in food chain.Cluster analysis,Pearson's correlation method, principal component analysis and trophic magnification factor(TMF)were used to analyze the species differences in trace elements, correlation and source of the elements, and the relationship between trace elements and trophic levels, and their transmission patterns. The results showed that the pattern of Fe>Zn>Cu>Mn>Se>Cr>B>Co was followed in all 6 pelagic nektons, and the contents of Cr,Mn,Fe,Co and Zn were significantly higher in fishes than in cephalopods.Differences in the distribution of trace elements among pelagic nektons were more pronounced.Zn and Mn were significantly positively correlated in all fish species, and the main source of Zn,Co,B,Cu,and Fe in fishes and cephalopods minght be food, while the main source of Mn,Cr,and Fe might be seawater. The six pelagic nektons in this study had a wide range of food sources(δ13C ranged from-26.9‰to 17.8‰andδ15N ranged from 5.6‰to 10.8‰)and a large number of trophic levels(1.7 to 3.7)in the NWP food chain, and the TMF>1 for Cr indicated
