The rapid development of virtual human technology and industry is bringing many vivid and interesting virtual humans into the public view, resulting in innovation and changes to various industries. When the appearance and behavior of virtual humans gradually approaches real humans but still has subtle differences, it will cause the uncanny valley effect, posing an obstacle to the promotion of virtual humans. To address this issue, this article analyzes the manifestations and causes of the uncanny valley effect in virtual humans. In order to effectively deal with the uncanny valley effect, methods from two dimensions are proposed, i.e. using cartoon and anthropomorphic animal styles to make virtual humans less realistic, or adopting preset expressions and highlighting the importance of body language to make virtual humans more lifelike. This article aims to provide helpful assistance for understanding and avoiding the uncanny valley effect in virtual human design.
