摘要
尤金·奥尼尔的悲剧作品《榆树下的欲望》刻画了一位鲜活丰满的女性崩溃杀婴的故事。女主人公爱碧从母子乱伦到杀害亲生孩子的暴力行为超出了一般伦理选择的范畴,成为系统性的暴力戕害个体、由空间向伦理转化的隐喻。本文认为,这部戏剧通过多层次空间结构与人物的相互关系,展示了家宅空间与社会空间中不可见的制度化暴力及其压迫,最终显化为伦理选择上的动荡、冲突和极端表达。奥尼尔通过家庭空间的微观视角,见证女性苦难的生成,传达出他对美国家庭、阶级和性别等多方面社会现实问题的关注与思考。
Desire Under the Elms,Eugene O'Neill's tragedy,dramatizes a story of infanticide committed by the mother,Abbie.The incest between mother and son and the killing of their baby go beyond normative ethical choice,which metaphorizes a transformation of systematic violence into individual violence,and probes into ethical problems via representation of space.Through the multiple interactions between structural spaces and characters,this drama demonstrates how institutionalized violence is invisibly produced within domestic and social spaces,and how its ultimate realization affects one's ethical choice in a fierce,conflicting,and extremely dangerous way.From the perspective of family,O'Neill examines the cause of female tragedy and expresses his concerned contemplation on social issues,including class and gender,in America.
