摘要
衣钵,是佛教传法的一个重要象征物。来到异文化之地传法的禅宗初祖达摩,为使禅宗传法有个“信体”,不得不“于相”,借助于衣钵这一“外相”,作为法脉正宗的一个物象符号。但物象一旦与权力或名利挂钩,即使佛门也会起争端,甚至起杀心。所以惠能得到真传的衣钵后,几番遗弃这个作为法脉正宗的“信体”,人人追索的法衣宝钵。他试图通过对“外相”的抽离(“离相”),抛弃阻碍“悟入”的迷心之障,不假外物,“以心传心”,进入觉知“本来真性”的境界,从而进入“无相”之道———领悟关于生命意义、社会规律和世界真相。
The Kasaya and mantle are important symbols of Buddhist teachings.The first ancestor of Zen Buddhism,Dhamma,who came to a foreign culture to spread the Dharma,had to use the Kasaya and mantle as symbols of the authentic Dharma lineage in order to have a“embodiment of faith”,in other words,“in-phase”,for the transmission of Zen Buddhism.The“external appearance”of the Kasaya and mantle was used as a symbol of the authentic lineage of Dharma.But once the symbol is linked to power or fame,even Buddhists will have disputes and kill each other.Therefore,after Hui Neng received the mantle of the True Transmission,he abandoned it several times as the“embodiment of faith”of the Dharma lineage,the Kasaya of the Dharma that everyone was after.He tried to abandon the obstacle of the lost mind that hindered“enlightenment”through the abstraction of“external appearances”(“detachment from appearances”,in other words,“out-of-phase”),and to“transmit the mind with the mind”without taking on external objects.He attempts to realize the way of“no-phase”--the truth about the meaning of life,the laws of society,and the world.
