In 2022,the U.S.Supreme Court overturned the established abortion rights precedent in the Roe v.Wade case, instantly igniting intense legal and ethical debates across the United States. This article delves into the historical context and legal shifts behind the decision, highlighting the fundamental clash between autonomy and the right to life at the heart of the abortion controversy. The piece points out that, despite a liberal societal inclination to uphold individual choice, the moral and legal quandaries surrounding abortion remain unresolved.Beyond generating sophisticated rhetoric, there seems to be little substantial progress or agreement. This focus on individual-centric ethics may hinder society's ability to engage in deep discussions and reach consensus on crucial ethical issues. Thus, the article advocates for greater focus on shaping and understanding the moral discourse of abortion through collective narratives and cultural values, aiming to foster a wider public moral conversation.
