摘要
加拿大作家阿特伍德以“瘟疫”为主题写下长篇小说《疯癫亚当三部曲》,从多重叙事的角度描绘了传染病大流行背景下,现代社会被利益裹挟,单纯追求科技进步,破坏生态、无视民众疾苦,从而导致社会失序、人类“灭绝”的“末日景象”。小说中的传染病有着多重隐喻,一是人与自然的隐喻书写,传染病的出现是人类随意破坏自然的必然后果;二是人与科技的隐喻书写,传染病揭示了科技凌驾于人类之上的普遍现象。小说以直白、犀利的笔锋为人们敲响了警钟:人类中心主义、物质主义、利益至上和科技至上的理念亟待反思,世界秩序和规则需要被重新界定。
Canadian writer Atwood has completed The MaddAddam Trilogy which focuses on the theme of plague,depicting from the perspective of multiple narratives that under the background of pandemic,the modern society is coerced by interests,purely pursuing scientific and technological progress,destroying the ecology and disregarding people’s sufferings,which leads to the apocalyptic visions of social disorder and human extinction.The infectious disease in this novel has multiple metaphors,one is the metaphorical writing of man and nature,the emergence of the diseases is the inevitable consequence of human’s arbitrary destruction of nature;the second is the metaphorical writing of man and science and technology,infectious disease reveals the common phenomenon that science and technology is superior to mankind.The novel’s blunt,sharp writing style warn human beings to reflect on those concepts such as anthropocentrism,materialism,the supremacy of interests and technology,and to redefine the world order and rules.
