Emily Dickinson,an American female poet in the 19th century, creates a landscape of subjective think⁃ing and an individualized aesthetic space in her poems. The subjective thinking incorporates sensibility and intelligence, building up“a landscape of integrative thinking”to feel and experience the world. The aesthetic space is a spiritual world that is shaped by individual disposition and aesthetic originality. In her poetry, objects are“things-in-themselves”,not the“phenomenon”in Kantian sense;poetic characters are free human beings, perpetually acquiring and expanding wis⁃dom in their existence. The poetess violates the grammatical rules and makes linguistic experiments, capitalizing common words in any place in a poetic line.In this way,she rebels against the fixed rules of English language and dispels the hierarchical traditions of rationality.By creating a personality that shines forth with particular temperament and intelligence,Dickinson searches to recover the authentic and primordial sensibility while battling the blocking of existential essentials by rational personality.
