From April to August 2020,the Changzhou Municipal Institute of Archaeology conducted excavations at the Paimucun Site in Changzhou,Jiangsu. The excavations revealed a range of Songze Culture remains, including wells, drainage ditches, and ash pits,as well as a number of artifacts with distinctive characteristics of the era.The wells are large in size and demonstrated advanced constructional techniques, reflecting the progress in production technology during the Songze Culture period in the lower reaches of the Yangtze River. The abundance of water facilities, such as wells and drainage ditches, reflects the adaptive responses of the people in the late period of the Songze Culture to arid natural climates.
