摘要
《英汉大词典》(第2版)收录了丰富的古典神话专有名词,也收录了大量相关词条。它在处理古典神话专有名词方面的优点是:收录了丰富的古典神话专名及相关专名;释义中的专名使用英语,包括在括注中使用英语和在专名派生词的对应词中使用英语。缺点是:张冠李戴;违背事实;体例不一;相关词条缺乏照应;译名前后矛盾;群组专名处理失衡;译名标准不够统一。
The English-Chinese Dictionary(2nd Edition)contains a wealth of proper nouns in classical mythology and a large number of related entries.Its advantages are as follows.It includes a large number of proper nouns in classical mythology and related proper nouns.The proper nouns in explanations,including parenthetical explanations and corresponding words of the derivatives of a proper noun,are in English.Its disadvantages are confusion of one word with another,mistakes in facts,inconsistent styles,lack of reference to related entries,inconsistent translations,unbalanced treatment in collective proper noun explanations,and insufficiently unified translation standards of proper nouns.
