摘要
广义的侯官新学既指晚清新学在侯官这一特定区域中表现出的具体形态,更指侯官文化自身在19世纪中西文化激烈碰撞时代开启的新阶段。在林则徐、林觉民和严复等人身上,体现了侯官士人忧国救世、勇于牺牲和力倡革新的爱国兴邦之精神。从林则徐到严复,展现了侯官士人在继承传统经世致用思想基础上的经世与科学之实用精神。此外,以林则徐、陈季同和严复等为代表的侯官翻译群体的翻译实践与马尾船政学堂的办学模式,都彰显出侯官士人的开放、创新的开拓精神。侯官特殊的地理与人文社会环境使侯官新学呈现出稳健、调适的中和特质,这一特质对当下中国的现代化建设具有宝贵的启示意义。
In a broad sense,Houguan New Learning not only refers to the specific form of New Learning in the specific region of Houguan in the late Qing Dynasty,but also refers to the new stage of Houguan culture itself in the era of fierce collision between Chinese and Western cultures in the 19th century.The lives of Lin Zexu,Lin Juemin,Yan Fu,etc.embodied the patriotic spirit of Houguan scholars who were concerned about saving the country and the world,who were brave to make sacrifices and who advocated innovation.From Lin Zexu to Yan Fu,the Houguan scholars'practical spirit in inheriting the traditional pragmatism was demonstrated.In addition,the translation practice of the Houguan translators represented by Lin Zexu,Chen Jitong,and Yan Fu,as well as the educational mode of the Mawei Shipbuilding School,all highlighted the open and innovative pioneering spirit of the Houguan scholars.The unique geographical and humanistic social environment of Houguan has made Houguan New Learning present a steady,moderate and neutral quality,which has valuable enlightenment significance for the modernization construction of current China.
