摘要
一直以来,大众对游戏的忧虑与批评不绝于耳。在这种“责备技术之坏”的道德恐慌下,农村留守儿童手游使用及其背后的潜在动因亟待讨论。本文基于苏、皖两省农村中小学的田野调查,研究发现:父母监管缺失导致留守儿童更容易在手机游戏中投入更多时间、金钱和精力。随着乡村现实娱乐条件的衰落,儿童娱乐文化发生了媒介化转向,在这种背景下,留守儿童玩手机游戏更多基于社交需求。手机游戏如同“益生菌”一般,发挥着活化社交、补偿情感、抑制生活无意义感的潜功能,但其“益生”作用的发挥建立在适度使用和辅助现实社交的条件之上。基于此,本文尝试使用“电子益生菌”这一新概念来阐释留守儿童的手机游戏依赖机制,同时也为祛魅游戏污名提供一种解释路径。
Amidst widespread public concern and criticism surrounding gaming,particularly the moral panic of attributing technological malfeasance,it is imperative to urgently explore the factors contributing to the addiction of left-behind children in rural areas to mobile games.Drawing from a field study conducted in primary and secondary schools in rural Jiangsu and Anhui provinces,this research identifies the lack of parental supervision as a key factor facilitating increased investment of time,money,and energy by left-behind children in mobile games.The diminishing availability of real entertainment options in rural areas has led to a mediated shift in children's culture,wherein virtual handheld games have emerged as a central component of their community culture.Within this context,left-behind children engage in mobile games as a response to social needs,utilizing games as a social currency to integrate with their peers,address real-life emotional dilemmas,and derive a sense of meaning beyond their immediate realities.Building upon these findings,this study introduces the novel concept of "electronic probiotics" to elucidate the game dependency mechanism among left-behind children.Furthermore,it offers an explanatory pathway to dispel the stigma associated with gaming,highlighting the complex social functions that mobile games serve in the lives of these children.
