摘要
比较庄子和密尔的自由观有助于人们从古今中外更广阔的视域重新理解自由观念。在对自由概念的理解上,虽然庄子的“逍遥”和密尔的“自由”都强调个人自由,但是庄子更偏重于精神层面的境界自由,密尔更注重现实层面的言行自由;在对自由的论证上,庄子基于宇宙生成观和平等观,通过“寓言”等形式进行论证,密尔采用严格的形式逻辑论证的方式,对不同类型的自由分别进行论证;在自由观的影响上,庄子对魏晋玄学的文风和主体人格修养都具有重要作用,密尔为自由贸易的发展和个体自由权利的争取提供坚实的理论支撑。二者的比较启示我们,对自由内涵的全面把握,应当建立在充分吸收和融合中西方自由思想的基础上,它不仅是行动的自由,也是境界的自由。
Comparing Zhuangzi’s and Mill’s views on freedom can help people re understand the concept of freedom from a broader perspective,both ancient and modern,as well as both domestically and internationally.In terms of understanding freedom,although both Zhuangzi’s“carefree”and Mill’s“freedom”emphasize individual freedom,Zhuangzi places more emphasis on spiritual realm freedom,while Mill places more emphasis on realistic realm freedom of speech and action.In the argument for freedom,Zhuangzi based his views on the generation of the universe and equality,using forms such as“fables”to argue,while Mill used strict formal logic to argue for different types of freedom separately.In terms of the influence of the concept of freedom,Zhuangzi played an important role in the literary style and subjective personality cultivation of Wei and Jin metaphysics.Mill provided solid theoretical support for the development of free trade and the struggle for individual freedom and rights.The comparison between the two reveals that a comprehensive grasp of the connotation of freedom should be based on the full absorption and integration of Chinese and Western freedom thoughts.It is not only the freedom of action,but also the freedom of realm.
