Xiaoma’anshan area of Yanchi county is believed good in uranium mineralization conditions, but over 90%the land surface is covered by the Quaternary sediments, and little uranium prospecting information and results were obtained by conventional geological and geophysical ground survey. In this paper, activated carbon Radon Measurement was used for uranium exploration. The radon concentration and ground gamma intensity at the depths of 40,80 and 120 cm were measured by activated carbon adsorption in Xiaoma’anshan area. The linear relationship between radon concentration and ground gamma intensity was established, and the correlation law between radon concentration and ground gamma intensity was summarized. The results show that the radon concentration in the study area increased significantly with the increase of the probe depth. This surggests that there may be a good uranium mineralized body beneath the detecting pits in the study area. The low intensity of the gamma exposure rate of the land surface is basically from the Quaternary background value. After removing the contribution value of surface radionuclide and radium to the measured radon concentration in the pit,the measured high radon concentration is mainly from the dispersion and diffusion of underground anomaly, indicating that there are strong radiation sources(bodies)in the underground of the study area.
