Successful and effective management of gastric cancer involves a multidisciplinary approach.Accurate and appropriate staging of gastric cancer is mandatory to define the optimum treatment strategy.Safe surgery achieving R0 resection is considered potentially curative.Surgery remains the cornerstone of multimodal therapy.There is a well-defined role for neoadjuvant and adjuvant chemotherapy regimens.Newermedications and chemotherapy combinations have improved tumor response rates,which have translated into more effective surgery and reduced local recurrences and improved long-term survivals.
