Violent cross-group conflict is often associated with people’s psychological biases, and research has shown that attitudinal biases are likely to stem from a biased way of viewing outside groups. The paper outlines the neurological evidence for human socialization and group categorization, essentialist beliefs about“us”versus“them”,the impact of such beliefs on behavior, and the causes of group prejudice, and proposes the use of homeopathic remedies to counteract group prejudice by learning about“them”,redefining“us”,and reinforcing affiliation. This paper presents a systematic approach to revising children’s understanding of the concept of“other”and provides empirical evidence for enhancing group cooperation and promoting social harmony.
