Sequel for Yongshang Old Poems compiled by Quan Zuwang in his later years is a collection of Yongshang poems from Longwan period of the Ming dynasty to Shunkang period of the Qing dynasty. The cultural purpose of his compilation is to write history by copying poetry, construct the history of their native land of the adherents of the for-mer dynasty, the history of eastern Zhejiang township and the history of Yongshang distinguished families with the compilation of poetic documents and biographical sketches of poets. The“three kinds of history”combine into one,and they can be separate and have their respective property, which has internal connection and different emphasis. The history of native land focuses on the recognition of Zhu Yuanzhang's regime of the Ming dynasty in which Yong-shang literati resisted and avoided the Qing dynasty. The history of township focuses on the historical restoration of Yongshang literature and cultural evolution. The history of distinguished families focuses on the inheritance of fami-lies and the sorting and recurrence of interfamilial associations.Due to the prosperous culture of Yongshang distin-guished family, they were also the backbone of the anti-Qing Dynasty and the adherents group of the former dynasty. The history of distinguished families, township and native land has been organically integrated and effectively carried forward because of the spirit of integrity and humanistic tradition.
