摘要
现代性与后现代性的关系问题是理论界一个新的“老问题”,“老”在于自后现代性出场之日起二者的纷争就从未间断,“新”在于现代性虽饱受质疑却不断被激活,内涵也愈加丰富。法兰克福学派三代批判理论家对现代性持总体性内在批判立场,但对现代性与后现代性关系的理解和处理方式有所不同。以阿多诺为代表的法兰克福学派第一代理论家极端的现代性批判立场导致批判理论的后现代性亲缘表征,以哈贝马斯为代表的第二代理论家以现代性拒斥后现代性,从总体上将两者对立起来,造成二者关系紧张。作为二、三代之间重要过渡人物,维尔默传承批判理论传统,将哈贝马斯开启的语言学转向引向深入,在后形而上学视域中重构辩证法,对现代性与后现代性关系进行了饱有和解意味的理论重建,开启了政治伦理学新视域,为重塑更加开放包容的现代性提供方案。考察维尔默对现代性和后现代性关系的理论重建,为当代更好地理解和把握现代和后现代性的关系提供理论启示。
The relationship between modernity and post-modernity is a new“old problem”in the theoretical circles.It is“old”because the dispute between the two has never stopped since the date of the appearance of post-modernity.It is“new”because modernity is always full of vitality and implications though it faces constant questioning.The three generations of the critical theorists of the Frankfurt School hold an overall and internal critical position on modernity,but their understandings of the relationship between modernity and post-modernity as well as their coping strategies are different.The first-generation critics represented by Theodor Wistuqrund Adorno have an extreme attitude towards modernity and their critical theory has an affinity with post-modernity.The second-generation critics represented by Jürgen Habermas use modernity to refute post-modernity,thus making the two in opposition to each other and in tension.As an important theorist between the second and third generations,Albrecht Wellmer has inherited the tradition of the critical theory,furthered the linguistic turn initiated by Habermas,and reconstructed dialectics in the perspective of post-metaphysics as well as the relationship between modernity and post-modernity with a full sense of reconciliation,which has opened a new field for political ethics and provided a new blueprint for reconstructing a more open and inclusive modernity.In contemporary times,the study of Wellmer's theoretical construction of the relationship between modernity and post-modernity will provide rich theoretical implications for better understanding such relationship.
