摘要
英语动词短语省略结构常出现在并列句、附加疑问句或简单句中。从图形—背景理论研究视角出发,结合上述三个句式层面深究英语动词短语省略结构衍生的认知成因。研究发现,英语动词短语省略结构的概念化过程既与认知主体建构双层图形—背景联结,又与认知主体的心理因素息息相关,只是于涓微之处略有差异。依托图形—背景理论不仅有利于查究英语动词短语省略结构的认知理据,更能彰显该理论强大的语言解释能力。
English verb phrase ellipsis constructions are often found in coordinate structure,tag question or simple sentences.Treating the figure-ground theory as the research perspective,the cognitive motivation of the production of English verb phrase ellipsis constructions from three aspects which mentioned above will be delved deeply.It is found that the conceptualization of English verb phrase ellipsis constructions is both essentially based on the double figure-ground connections and closely related to the mental factors of the cognitive subject,which has slight variations among three aspects.The figure-ground theory can both facilitate the process of finding cognitive motivation of English verb phrase ellipsis constructions and show the great power of explaining language.
