The purpose of this study is to explore the historical changes of Wanjiang polder landscape from the perspective of landscape science, and provide inspiration for the protection, utilization and sustainable development of China’s water scenic spots.Based on the local county chronicles, series of historical materials and map information data, this paper takes Taoxin Shuiyun National Water Scenic Spot as the research object, selects 1919(the Republic of China)and 2022(the contemporary era)two periods, identifies and extracts the polder landscape elements in the research area in different years, and carries out image analysis and diachronic comparison of the water system subsystem, polder field subsystem and settlement subsystem. The results show that the ancient irrigation facilities still function today, but the water network density has increased significantly. The polder field form inherits the traditional two types of field shape and polygon, and the polder field structure gradually changes from simple to complex. The distribution of settlements has developed from scattered type to belt type, radial type, island type and agglomerated type. The evolution of Wanjiang polder landscape is a process of continuous game between human and natural systems for thousands of years. In the construction of Water Scenic Spots in the new era,it is necessary to inherit the wisdom of the ancients in adapting, managing and benefiting water.
