The Bloomsbury Group was the most prestigious and influential British literary,artistic,intellectual,and cultural group in the first half of the 20th century.Bloomsbury was composed of a wide range of extraordinarily talented writers,artists,critics and intellectuals,such as Virginia Woolf,E.M.Forster,Roger Fry,Clive Bell and J.M.Keynes.Tracing its lineage back to"The Clapham Sect"and"The Cambridge Apostles"and involving itself in Post-Impressionist Exhibitions,"The Omega Workshops"and"The Hogarth Press,"Bloomsbury developed the legacy of British intellectual aristocracy by pursuing the ideal of British intellectual elite.With G.E.Moore's ethics,and the ethic of friendship and formal aesthetics as the core of its spirit and thinking,Bloomsbury profoundly shaped 20th-century British culture with its breakthrough and innovation in literature,art and life,its participation in public affairs in social,political,economic and other fields,and its practice of various new freedoms.
